I recall when they shift to a 3-4 under Phillips, people thinking that Donald wouldnt be able to play a 5T because of his short arms. Truly great players find a way to thrive

In the Wade Phillips 3-4 the 2 DEs are different positions similar to how a 3tech and 1tech are different positions despite both being DTs.

Brockers was the 6-5 long armed DE.

Playing 3-4 DE actually makes run defense easier for Donald because he is not inside grinding against double teams.

He then moves to his best position on passing downs which is Nickel 3tech DT.

The Wade Phillips 3-4 is basically the modern 3-4.

The old Parcells style 3-4 is gone except nobody told that to Mike Nolan in 2020...

Well the parcels 34 was a 52 and I actually like that. Also I would prefer 3NTs in a 34 to stop the run and control the line of scrimmage.
