In this hypothetical scenario Downs falls to 11 and Miami is fielding calls for a move up. Dallas pays the small price to move up the 1 spot and Miami still gets the player they wanted.

**12, 112, and 180 for 11 and 130**

11- Caleb Downs DB Ohio St- Chess piece DB that will operate out of the slot to be able to impact both pass and run game. Can also slide to S in base D. Arguably most importantly, Downs has the type of personality and demeanor to change a defense as a leader.

**Trade 20 & 2027 6th for 29 and 74- KC goes defense with their 1st pick and trade up to 20 for best available weapon for Mahomes…Tyson/Cooper/Sadiq**

29- Jacob Rodriguez LB Texas Tech- Greendot type of MLB with great instincts. Great in the box LB that diagnoses running lanes and makes tackles. Cleared up questions about his athleticism at the combine, solid in zone coverage but still not a guy you want in1 on 1 coverage. And much like Downs, he brings a demeanor and passion for football to impact a locker room.

74- Jaishawn Barham Edge Michigan- Played a lot of off-ball LB in college, but his potential lies as an edge rusher in my opinion. Has good initial burst and can flatten and bend around the edge. Will need some coaching up on pass rush moves as a full time edge. Brings versatility to drop in coverage and a solid run defender.

93- LT Overton DL Alabama- Former 5 star prospect that never quite lived up to the hype as a splash player. What Overton lacks as a pure pass rusher he makes up for as a tough rugged run defender. Powerful 280 pound frame with long arms and heavy hands to keep blockers off of him with the ability to locate the ball and make tackles. Can be a run stopping 5/4i tech in base and move inside to shoot gaps in nickel.

130- Kaleb Elarms-Orr LB TCU- 6’2 235 LB with 4.47 sideline to sideline speed. Great chase and tackle ability that packs a punch with his hits. 2 year starter as a 5th year SR that will need some development to be a complete LB, but has all of the tools to develop.

152- J Michael Sturdivant WR Florida- Big athletic WR that bounced around between 3 schools in his college career never really putting together a full season of production. But at 6’3 208 with 4.40 speed and 39” vertical + a physical demeanor with the ball in his hands the upside is a bit tantalizing. Could be a late round gem if route running is refined.

177- Adam Randall RB Clemson- 6’3 232 converted WR. Great size to speed ratio that makes him a home run threat. If he commits himself as a blocker he could a very interesting 3rd down RB with pass catching ability. Also a kick return threat.

218- Delby Lemieux C/G Dartmouth- Small school lotto ticket to develop on the PS. Played LT at Dartmouth but played C and held his own at the senior bowl. Should be able to have position versatility at G as well.

Love the first 5 picks. The rest of them I really don’t know them that well but sign me up for this draft

As far as the RB - Randall, I saw a guy with good power but lacking balance, and he definitely does NOT have home run speed especially against nfl defenses who run much faster than typical college defenses.

Would like to have a CB or extra S on day two. Scott, Rivers or pond might make for a good nickle or slot CBs. Bud Clark, Wheatly, Stukes, Ramsey or maybe later get VJ Payne.

Not bad, but I think J Michael Sturdivant is drafted too high. You can probably get him in the 7th or undrafted.
I'd also switch out Elams-Orr for Perkins Jr. and Overton for another DT or other EDGE on the board, like Landon Robinson, Durant, Donta Corleone, Height, or Sutton.

But the 1st 3 picks make it a a very good draft.

I like it a lot. Downs, Rodriguez and Orr especially.

The only thing that gives me pause is the PTSD that I would have taking a Michigan DL/EDGE at any point in any draft.

I don’t understand the love for Perkins. He was an edge rusher that got moved to off-ball LB and is very underdeveloped at the position. His only real skill is chasing the ball, there’s no instincts or ability to take on blocks whatsoever

Barham has grown on me quite a bit, and I like Elams Orr. But I don't think they can come out of this draft without a corner early.

Overton is pretty close to undraftable. He has no traits and no production.

Haha I hear ya, but I have been on Barnham for a bit now. He seems like a good fit for ED/OLB in this Parker system.

Although it would be a good draft, I don't think Caleb Downs is a primary solution to pursue. The team's main need is a pass rusher, so moving up to the 6th pick would be expensive. Given the opportunity to move up to the 9th pick and still have the chance to select a player like Ruben Bain, in my opinion, the most viable trade for Dallas would be with Kansas City: Dallas' picks 12, 20, and 180 for Kansas City's picks 9, 29, and 109. In my view, this would be the smartest move they could make. Based on most mock drafts and with a vote of confidence, we can deduce that there's an 80% chance that both Bain and Downs will be available at the 9th pick, and I would go for Bain. I understand that Downs would be a better player, but the need is more for a pass rusher. There's even a 50% chance that Sonny Styles will be available at the 9th pick. With this trade, Dallas would get another pick. 4th round, and going down from 20 to 29 doesn't make much difference, because I would even go down further to the second round to get more picks and still have the opportunity to select an LB or CB.
