4/11 Mock

I like Browning upside more then I do Cox. The positional group is so thin with many question marks, they need to add quality players to the group.
I like McGrone a lot better than either of those guys... although Browning fits Dallas’ profile better, unless Quinn has changed what they’re looking for, which is possible.

But yeah, I like Browning better than Cox, for sure.

McGrone has seriously been overlooked. I’d love to have him in round 3.

I view Surtain differently. I think he’s going to be a star and a day1 starter. And as much as I like Ojulari, I don’t think he’s a better player.

Agree to disagree...scouting reports on Surtain question the athleticism and then he sits out for the 20 shuttle and 3 cone.

Love the player, but hard pass at 10.

Man, really any corner that is 6’1” or 6’2” is going to be somewhat less than super twitchy. Their change of direction drill times are simply never going to be what a guy’s is who is 5’10”. You want great, twitchy change of direction, then a guy like Molden will give you more of that.

It is the price you pay for having tall, long corners who can high-point with guys like Calvin Johnson, Pitts, Chase Claypool, etc. Jalen Ramsey doesn’t have very good change of direction at all. His weakness is covering guys like Beasley and Hill. He’s still a great corner and pretty much closes down his sideline.

Slot corners who are shorter and quicker deal with guys like Beasley but even then the scheming is responsible for shutting him down. When teams singled him, Dak found him over and over. Then, defenses started bracketing him and his production fell off the face of the earth.

My point is that if you’re looking for a 6’2” corner who is twitchy and can change directions like Beasley... you’re going to be passing on picking a corner for a long, long time.

Surtain and Horn are both plenty good athletes for a first round corner.

If New England is trading up into the top 10 for a QB, I’m holding out for pick 15 and their first round pick next year.

You lost me at Ramsey can’t change direction well...he’s the prototype athlete of what you want at CB.

That aside, strongly disagree with your assessment. Basically everything you’re saying is exactly why good CBs like Diggs fall to the 2nd. Bigger dudes with + hips / feet exist...that was Farley til the injury concerns popped up.

If we’re going to ignore that stuff, that essentially makes my point exactly why you don’t take Surtain / Horn at 10.

Think Browning is a good fit as the strong-side spot, although he has the athletic traits to eventually play all positions. In the 3rd rd, could be a good pick.

Well, you’re a good poster who I frequently agree with, so yeah, it is a difference of opinion. But it is pretty well known that the taller a guy is, the higher his center of gravity is, and the longer it takes him to change directions.

Ramsey is a great corner but he doesn’t change direction as quickly as Shorter guys can. I read recently something saying that Ramsey is a really good player but everyone has a weakness... and his is keeping up with smaller quicker guys. That is fairly well known and accepted too. It is a concession to being a very tall cornerback.

He’s a phenomenal athlete but at his height it’s just a fact that he can’t change directions like Julian Edelman.

That’s all I’m saying. You just can’t be 6’2” and change directions like a 5’9” guy... but you still would rather have the 6’2” guy with all else being equal because they need to match up with the taller outside receivers.

Now, if you don’t see it that way, then that’s fine, we can just disagree on that point. Personally, I feel like Surtain is a plenty good enough athlete for a 6’2” corner.

For all I know though, teams agree with you and don’t like Surtain either, so peace man.

I’d still rather have McGrone but I could certainly live with Browning in the 3rd.

I hope they stay away from Cox though.

Cnball21 is a good poster but you will never get him to be ok drafting Surtain at 10. I feel the same way about drafting Pitts or Sewell/Slater. Great players but I just don’t see them being good picks for the Cowboys.

I think Ojulari is the best pass rusher in the class imo. Acquiring capital and taking the #1 guy edge is a nice move.

I just cannot get on board with Sam Cosmi. He's Conor Williams to a t, in fact Longhorns fans rated Williams higher....

Really like Holland and Adebo but we would still need a veteran CB post draft imo. I think Holland starts day 1

I agree to an extent but the smaller shifty WRs that are slot guys are usually covered by slot CBs.

I’m not worried about just that, I’m worried about quick footed, quality route running outside WRs that will give Surtain/Horn trouble bc they don’t have the feet / hips to match.

Taller CBs are going to be a tick slower in transition, but Ramsey had a sub 7 3 cone and a sub 4.2 short shuttle. These are the drills I wanted to see Surtain do the most and he sat them out...which to me is a red flag.

Yep, everybody’s different and I can’t say my way is right and another way is wrong because we just don’t know. It’s just how I feel about prospects and how I would do things if I were in charge.

I have certain things that I like in prospects. Another person might prefer other things and not like my prospects. It just the way it is. And that is fine too as long as you have logic in the way you pick prospects, I can respect it.

That’s why I really don’t like to argue in the draft zone... because nobody really knows if they are right or wrong for a few years. Sometimes if a prospect is good enough, you can tell pretty much right away, but usually it takes time.

I like Pitts and would trade up for him, and I like Surtain at 10.

You may like Surtain at 10 but think it’s crazy to move up for Pitts.

That’s all fine too... there’s more than one way to skin a cat and we’re all just in here talking about what we enjoy so I’m not gonna trip about any of it.

Phillips had a lot more tackles than Ojulari and more tackles for loss. Phillips had 8 sacks. Ojulari had 8.5. Phillips tested a little better. I like both of them. I like Phillips a lot.

I mean, I agree that it would’ve been nice to see the results of those drills.

If I didn’t think Surtain had the athleticism to be good outside, I would feel similarly to how you feel... it’s just that I do think he does. If you don’t, I can’t fault you for thinking that way.

So, I guess we’ll see once he plays some. It’ll be interesting to see where he’s taken and how he does with better wideouts. If he goes to Dallas, I’ll hope I’m right. If he ends up in Philly, I’ll be hoping that you’re right.

Always the way it is.

Pass rush should always be a priority and ours isn't great.
Taking Ojulari in 1, with the CB depth in this draft and the type of system we ask them to play in, is smart, proactive, and immediately gives us something we lack.

I like it. A little burned by Connor as a Teaxs OT, but the rest of the draft is solid. I can't for the life of me understand why Adebo, with all his picks and decent athleticism, isn't higher rated.

And Holland is my pet cat. Gives you potential as staring FS, at worst, a good slot CB.

The medicals are the only concern for me on Phillips and tbh I'm not sure I trust this teams medical staff

Re the arguing I the draft zone , I've always found it the most respectful board in this place, like minded folk that love the draft and college ball, this really is my favorite time of year and everybody that posts here is part of that reason...
