I like the idea but if we got the three 2nd round picks I’d like to trade back up using the 3rd or 4th to get one top 40 talent. Especially if it meant getting one of Green, Zion, Linderbaum, or one of the top WR’s.

He already got Dotson.

Just can't wrap my head around getting rid of Cooper just to turn around and draft a WR with a top pick only to leave the trenches to chance.

That makes us better? I can't get on board with that and I hope it's not something I'm trying to reconcile next Thursday night while people that think the NFL is fantasy football get all excited.

Not out of the question

Wed have to give up our 4th to make that trade closer to working

I don’t consider him one of the top WR’s. IMO he’s a step down from the elite options in the draft.

I mentioned it because you said top 40 talent. How far up did you want to go? Wilson, Williams, and Olave are probably not going to be there anyway. I'll take Dotson's speed over Burks or London. But I wouldn't take any of those 3 in the first round.

All you trade back folks just don't get it.

Jimmy Johnson did that because his system used a ton of tweeners who were undervalued. those days are dead.

Actually....those days are coming back....everybody is running the 4-2 big nickle.....and that hybrid safety....(Kearse for us) is more LBer.

I’d take London and Burks over Dotson and I’m looking to grab someone with a 1st or 1-2 grade where I have Dotson squarely as a 2nd.

1) Not everyone has Dotson in 2.
2) If you have Lamb and Gallup and still need a first round WR….

I can’t talk to what everyone else’s opinion is, only my own opinion. I’m also of the opinion that any player we draft in the early 2nd round doesn’t count as a 1st round pick.

But I haven’t said a 1st round WR is needed, it’s only an option and I look at Dotson where he was taken and think it isn’t value and I’d happily give up a 4th to ensure that we can find value.

Me personally, I don't think they target WR until the 3rd round earliest. But we don't know what the Jones boys are thinking. They may have dumped Cooper solely for cap space.

This mock was meant to get 2 mid round 2nds for pick 24. So there would be some sacrifice for only giving up the one pick. But if you want to trade back up into the mid 30s, a 4th is only going to move you to around pick 39 from 43. A 3rd can move into the late first. Like pick 30.

Once you get past the 3rd round, the value of those picks are so low that they are only useful to move around from the 4th to the 7th. Not in the earlier rounds.

If everyone is using it, how is there a trade back advantage?

Awful draft.

After this offseason, my only wish is to improve. If that means a wide receiver is the best option to do that in the first, I'm good with it. I think we'll draft an OL because that's our weakest spot and it seems to be a spot in the draft where some of the best guards are expected to go. But ultimately, I just want to feel good about this team for once this offseason. (OK, I did feel good about the Kearse and Anger re-signings.)
