My very first mock draft had me taking Zeke with the #4 pick. I remembered the reason why I fell in love with him as a prospect originally. Zeke has some Marshall Faulk to his game, he can bring it in all 3 aspects - running, catching, AND blocking. The idea of Zeke combined with Tony Romo. Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, and our strong O-line, would make it a very hard offense to stop. I feel like this pick 'just makes sense' in the fact that it would bring us back to our identity of the 2014 football team - smashmouth, clock-controllin', we are going to waste a bunch of time on this possession AND score just try to stop us....hahaha.

Ideally, if the Cowboys could trade down and still have a legitimate chance at Zeke, they should. Or if a team offers up the farm for a Tunsil, or something, if it makes sense because we are getting such a great value that we would be stupid not to take...then yeah sure do it...but if there is nothing enticing enough of an offer, I would also, personally, NOT have any regrets about burning such a pick on someone I feel could be an elite gamebreaker for us, stacking our offensive deck so much in our favor that we become feared on that side of the ball, and of course by holding the ball a lot - that helps the defensive side of the ball - not as much of a burden would be strained on them if we can bring back 2014 O level of play. Not to forget, I feel like our defense really did a nice job last year despite the lack of good play from our Romo & Dez less offense - they kept us 'within' games...imagine about the same (or hopefully better!) level of play from the D, and all our favorite players healthy and an addition of a possible great RB? Man oh man wouldn't that be fun...

Feel free to disagree with me :) and I understand about 'values' and all that jazz, and that it isn't worth the #4 overall...but this is one time...I feel like it 'might' just be

Light on defense but I can see JJ drafting like this. Complete with high fives in the war room.

We dont have a fifth rd pick.
Too much offense early and with good DT in the draft I'm not
happy with the 2nd pick particularly we need DE considering our knuckle headed DE roster

did you notice he wasn't calling it a fifth round pick but our fifth pick of the draft. notice the R4P37 (Round 4 Pick 37)

Thanks for posting.

This team will never get much better without addressing the defense long term.

Oh for sure, we need to always be looking at improving any aspect of the team, especially the defense. I drafted with Romo's 'window' in mind...

I like it because I think Zeke and Thomas could be good for our defense, by keeping them off of the field. That was their biggest issue last year, the fact that in quite a few of the games they were stuck on the field because we had no Romo, a 75% Dez, and decent RB (but not one you want seeing 7-8 men in the box like they were because they were so unafraid of the passing game). Zeke and Thomas will help with that.

It's rare that rookie WRs make such a big impact, especially 2nd round guys. Anyone thinking Thomas will take pressure off the defense is reaching IMO. Frankly, I think people overrate how much Elliott is going to help the D.

Possibly, but our defense was 15th last year without an offense to speak of. Many games saw them only allow points after being out there the whole first half (both the Pats and Panthers game seem to fit this bill). From that they basically only lost Hardy. I would much rather have a defensive heavy draft... but if offense is what's there, we would be fools not to take it as any boost to the offense will help the defense.
