4 Preseason games in 17 days?

Does this seem like a bad idea to anyone else? Players complain about the Thanksgiving crunch with 2 games close together, but having full contact games so close together seems like a recipe for a rash of injuries.

After all that contract stuff about fewer practice days in the offseason, players may not be in football condition for a gauntlet like that.

The starters won't be playing significant minutes until the 3rd game so they should be fine. The fringe players might get a bit worn out.

And that's exactly what they need. We need to see whos gonna be able to grind out a 17+ week schedule.

But even the 17 week schedule doesn't have 4 games in 2 and 1/2 weeks. I'm just saying I'm concerned that all these games will result in more injuries this year.

Most of the guys playing will be working at Home Depot by September. The players that matter will play a sum total of about a game and a half.

Home Depot must have one heck of a flag football team :laugh2:

That also may bring in a more hard-nosed approach to getting business done and just shouldering the stress and demands presented. That alone could be worth the challenge, come opening whistle against the Giants.

When you are looking at 80 guys, 4 games in 17 days in not a lot of football per player.

Few veterans will play at all in the fourth preseason game, and much of the first two games will amount to rookie scrimmages. The CBA prevents two-a-day practices, so I don't mind seeing how some of these younger guys, especially in the offensive line, perform under contact.

Now that is spoken as a vintaged fan...:star:

That is some of the greatness of this sport. The challenge and drama.

That does seem pretty cramped. Surprised me. The down side is players you really want to see may get nicked up and either not get to play well or at all. Oh well. Survival of the fittest.

There are 46 players on the active roster during the season.

There are 90 players on the roster during the preseason. They would only need 2 more players (92/2=46) to have 2 complete rosters.
