He wasn’t drafted so technically he’s an UDFA

He has two more years left on his contract. Cap implications for cutting and re-signing. All of the signing bonus would accelerate.

It was a good UDFA class, which we really need since we don't make much use of FA. Now, of course, the question is whether it was a good UDFA class BECAUSE we don't make much use of FA. If we had some top FAs on this team, it would have trickled down to knock some bottom-of-the-roster guys off the team.

I'm still surprised Bell was an UFDA. I would have taken him in the 4th round last April. I was pleading for him in the 5th round. However, Waletzko, Bland, Clark, and Ridgeway show various levels of promise. I am not giving up on any of the day 3 picks. After Dallas drafted Harper at pick #193, how he didn't get selected in the final 69 picks is beyond me!

The one that surprised me was McKeon. I thought he would make the roster.

And disregard the depth issue at WR. For an UDFA to push our Sean McKeown at TE and Bell to make his way in with a CROWDED safety room, good for them.

He's only in his second year, and he's a good special-teams player. No problem with the team giving him another year to develop. I prefer seeing him on the roster than someone like Goodwin, who has already proven what he is as a corner.
