The coaching staff and players needs to put in overtime and start early preparation for the playoffs. Minimum 10 hours before Sunday.

On offense the OL, TEs, & RBs need to put in extra reps in run plays and pass protection drills to get assignments down and improve chemistry with the recent OL shakeup. Far as the passing game goes if you’re a receiver then you need to hit up the jug machine for at least a 30 minute session everyday.

On defense secondary has to play more press-zone and help the DL convert some of those pressures into sacks. In run defense department Quinn needs to utilize base 4-3 DL with Micah as a LB. One other issue to solve is tackling and tackling as a gang for minimum gain or turnover when opposing offenses attacks with the quick passing game.

Special teams needs to eliminate penalties and hit the gym to get stronger so they can maintain blocks and create running lanes for Turpin.:oldcouple:

They probably have some assistants, Quality Control guys, that get film together and prepare for upcoming opponents and meetings already doing preliminary prep on all the playoff teams.

NFLPA and the CBA negates overtime.

TB is their best matchup because they are familiar with them.

He's done a really good job returning kickoffs and punts. Nice to have a STeams return man. He is fun to watch.

I had a thread in the NFL section about a Saints UNDFA who like Turpin is a burner except NO actually uses the guy on offense , throws him the ball for long gains . Burned the Eagles . Rasheed Shaheed. I would think one or two got routes per game maybe a 15-20 yr curl from the slot . Anything

Seems like ST penalties center around one player .
Kelvin Joseph didn’t give the punt returner room to catch the ball made contact . That’s just one example this from the last game. I’m not “ bias “ I see what I see . The last guy on the OLine who piled up holding penalties like parking tickets is now thankfully in Miami . Joseph would be addition by subtraction like the Williams lineman in Sunny Miami .
Bones took responsibility for those in his press conference. Sometimes, there's more going on than the bias in fans' heads and what they see at face value.

Side note: People laughed at me this year when I said Detroit could be a playoff contender.

As Pass2Run indicated, ST coach John Fassell said he has coached KJ to crowd the punt returner.

Fassell also said "I'll take him a million out of a million days" with regards to KJ.

Good job...Connor Williams has been one of the better OCs in the league this year and now the Cowboys season could be derailed by lack of depth at OC.

Again, great job advocating for depleting the depth on the OL.

@America's Cowboy will likely add some comments...

KJ has been called for fair catch interference 2 times this year. He has 8 penalties total of which 7 are special teams penalties (the Cowboys have 15 special teams penalties total). I remember 2 that I thought were bogus but I am sure everyone has one or 2 of those considering the refs these days.

The most penalized player on the Cowboys is Tyler Smith with 12, 8 holding and 4 false starts. 8 of them were accepted.

After Joseph are Hendershot, Biadasz, Parsons, and Fowler with 5.

To say KJ has been a little dumb is the understatement of the year.

I wish there was a pill KJ could take to make him smarter because he has the physical tools. But without football intelligence, or maybe it is general intelligence, he will be out of the league in a year or two.

I know Connnor Williams has been rated highly, but every time I watch the Dolphins play, and I have seen them 4 or 5 times, I don't get why Williams is rated so highly. He looks to me to be the guy Dallas let go in free agency. He's okay, but I don't see him get movement run blocking and he seems like just a guy pass blocking. He has cut down the holding penalties this year, he has 1 holding, and 5 penalties total, but when I watch Biadasz, I think he is stronger and more powerful, especially run blocking, than Williams.

That’s a great take on Joseph . You see the physical tools the Cowboys scouts saw in using a premium pick now the intelligence the seasoning the smarts to not have all these penalties fly when you take the field .

To me what gets him benched indefinitely is the bomb he gave up in Jacksonville . Up 27-10 your man flies past you all of sudden it’s 27-17 and a comfortable win became a street brawl .

Sounds like we're about to play a prolific QB in Brady or Rodgers. Both of whom have crushed many Cowboys dreams.
So unless defense really comes back and play dominant like the games 2-4 , we dont have a chance ?
