Was this the score in 1986 ? A team on the decline (Cowboys) to an up and coming young Bears team. Played in Dallas.

Now its the opposite, the Cowboys are the young up and coming team and the Grossman lead Bears...Well not exactly on a decline, since they went to the big show last year...Don't seem the powerhouse they have been the last few years.

That 1986 game propelled the Bears into the Limelight (remember the 44-0 on the cover of sports illustrated, when I used to read that rag).

A victory like that for us will do the same thing.

It was 1985, the Bears Super Bowl shuffle year.

The worst game I have ever seen our team play.

Holy Kahoots!

That was the beginning of a dark era for Dallas football.

I agree. The sad thing is (at least for me) I KNEW it was coming. That was the end of the line.

Sorry folks, didn't mean to drudge old bad memories, but talk about new beginings.

I've still got the Sports Illustrated mag of that, with Danny White getting sacked on the front cover.

Speaking of which...

For me, this was the second worst defeat which I have ever felt as a Cowboys fan--behind the Super Bowl XIII defeat and just before the NFC Championship game which followed the '94 season. The team was soundly beaten and humbled in all aspects of the game. It took a very long time for me to recover after that game.

The only comforting thought, which occurred to me a year or two later, was the fact that that '85 Bears team was one of the greatest to ever play the game. It was one of the best ever assembled prior to the salary cap era. If your favorite team is going to be stripped to it's bare bones, I say let it be by one of the best teams of all-time (darn it).

I had no clue. Of course back in those days, I had to wait for my Dallas Cowboys Official Weekly and Sporting News to show up in my mail box just to read what the media was dishing out that week. What an eye opening game.

That Bear team was SCARY on defense. I knew they were gonna handle us. 44? No, but I knew they were the better team and I sensed we were on the decline.

I also KNOW they won't be beating us 44-0 today.

It was pretty bad but the absolute worst game I have ever seen Dallas play was the opener in 1989. 28-0 loss to the Saints. At least the team scored something in that 2002 opener.

Not even close, we should have had negative points we got beat so bad and a lot of folks didn't realize how bad we sucked till that game, we all knew how bad we sucked before the Houston game.

dude...there is no comparison between the 1985 44-0 game, the Houston loss and that 89 game

other than Aikman and Herschel, we had absolutely zero talent on the field that day...we were coming off a 3-13 season that was the teams worst yr since the early 60's...nobody in their right mind could have expected us to be a decent team in 1989...the Saints were a very good team then

The beginning of that dark area wasn't that game, it was the game when Danny WHite got his wrist broken by Lawrence Taylor (it was Taylor, right?).

First shutout at home wasn't it??

I might have to add the 2000 season opener vs. the Eagles... (the pickle juice game)

Dallas rushing def allows 200+ yards, Troy Aikman gets knocked out, our prize new WR (via a hideous trade idea, realized later) gets KOd for the whole year with an ACL, Campo era is an instant disaster, plus it was 195 degrees that day.
