49ers' Aldon Smith charged with DUI

Associated Press

MIAMI -- San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith has been charged with driving under the influence in Miami Beach.

Sando: What Now For Aldon Smith?

Aldon Smith's arrest lends credence to pre-draft concerns about his readiness for NFL life, writes Mike Sando. Blog

Miami-Dade County jail records show Smith was booked Saturday morning and held on $1,000 bond. Jail records did not show whether Smith was represented by an attorney.

A Miami-Dade County Corrections spokeswoman said Smith was arrested by Miami Beach police. A police spokesman said he had no information immediately available about the arrest.

Not a big deal. Every single person who has ever lived has been arrested for DUI. Plus I'm sure he's in his 20s which means he's still a kid, too.

The hell are you talking about?

20 bucks says he will plead to a lesser charge. DUI are easy to get out of as long as your not completely hammered and refuse to take a Breathalyzer.

You mean you haven't been arrested for driving drunk and running around with millions in jewelry debt? You need to live a little. I remember when I was 23, I was at least 5 million in debt over some loans I had taken out for belly button rings and routinely got booted out of malls for not wearing pants.

Am I alone in this?

LoL are you kidding me?

Dez Bryant sags his pants in a mall and gets into a shouting match with a guy at a club and people want him banished to the depths of Hades, but this guy drives drunk and it's "no big deal."

OK.

Nah I don't see it as a big deal at all. I think it's perfectly normal to drive around drunk. I think just about everyone has done it, plus, people seem to forget that he's in his mid-20s so he's clearly a kid still.

Really?

I haven't.

Ok. I get it.

This forum desperately needs a sarcasm smilie.

Why are you guys face palming me? You guys haven't drove around drunk before? I thought that was something almost everyone has done. Especially when you consider that 20-30 is still a kid and you're not an adolescent until you're 30.

I also cannot believe for a second that you guys mean to tell me you've never had millions in jewelry debt. I don't believe that for one second.

Why, just the other day I had to bail out my friends 35 year old kid for fighting in public and refusing to pull his pants up. I don't think he got in trouble with his dad though because it's a mistake everyone makes. Everyone fights in public and ignores mall security, so it wasn't a big deal.

I don't think he'll ever pay me back that bail money though, but it's okay because he's 35 and still a kid.

I'm driving drunk right now. I think I just hit something, but it made kind of a 'bink!' sound more than a 'bonk!' sound. I presume that to mean it was only a small animal or a lost midget.

Did you run over and kill anything other than a human due to your own decision to drive while drunk?

That's not a big deal either. It's normal for me to drive around after polishing off a 24 pack by myself and running over various small animals. I'm sure I am part of the reason why some species are near extinction.

I'm nearly 30 though so it's all good. I'm still a kid.
