At least Barry had credentials. We act like he was some kind of stooge, but he has one of the highest winning percentages of any college football coach in history,[1] and is the second of only three head coaches to win both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl. It may not have ended well, but he was a more qualified coach than anyone we're looking at now except Carroll.

They fired Balke. He went back today to speak with the Jags owner, again. He’s back in play for the job. Tampa Bay’s asst. GM, Spytek, a teammate of Brady at Michigan, has been offered the GM job at Las Vegas. That may result in another run by them at Kingsbury.

Understandable. I'd just take a Switzer off the couch over pretty much anyone Dallas is considering. He took us to an NFC Championship Game and to a Super Bowl before it all fell apart. (We actually won a playoff game the next season, too, but lost the next one after also losing Irving and Sanders to injuries.) Of course, we're far removed from those days, so a Switzer off the couch now might could buy us a playoff appearance at best.
