Generally, preseason game 3 is when you want to get your starters some serious game time, then rest them the following game. Well, I remember BP saying that this game will be strange because the 49'ers run a 3-4 and we don't really play 3-4 defense this year, so we won't practice for it like we normally would. Didn't he also mention that he hadn't talked to Nolan and wasn't sure how Nolan was approaching the game? Just curious, do we play more serious this week or next?

I heard him say that, but since we practice EVERY DAY against a 3-4 defense it shouldnt really limit what they can do...plus, there will be times the Niners line up in a 4 man front just like everyone else

also, trying to wait till Thursday to take a game more serious probably wouldnt work well either since the Vikes probably WONT be, in which case we'd get our starters basically beating up on a bunch of backups or guys that wont even be in the league

ultimately, I really dont care if we lose 52-0 this weekend as long as nobody else gets hurt

It's important to guys like Romo (who's should continue to wow the fans with his accuracy, or fall off the face of the earth)

Important to rookies like Hurd, Carpenter and Watkins. We need Watkins to be tested, and I don't think he has been tested.

I'd like to see the niners have more offensive series so we can see our 1st team defense play more snaps.

Kicking situation is still unsettled. Atleast as far as the kickoff situation is, and this new rookie kicker has caused Parcells eyes to turn after that 49 yarder.

So I still think it's important.

I think the most important thing about this game is to stay healthy.

I agree, especially for the projected starters. The goal is to get in a couple of reps... and walk away injury-free.

I think the Cowboys at this point are farther along than most other teams. We've looked good in our first two preseason games and haven't been plagued by the penalties and miscommunications that other teams are dealing with. I just don't think we need as much out of this game as most other teams and I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we lose it as I'm sure the 49ers have more to prove and will put more emphasis on it than we will.

That's what I was getting at really. Do we treat this as a dress rehearsal for opening day, or do we just try and see how some bubble players perform, and try next week for the dress rehearsal, possibly having Owens and Crayton available to play.

The most important thing about this upcoming game is no injuries.

This is where I think the big blow to a team injuries usually occur. In the last 2 pre-season games.

I was wondering about this too.

I don't know if tonight will be our "dress rehearsal" or not. It may be too inconvenient to try a dress rehearsal tonight. We're missing three key cogs in our offense: our LT (and best OL....we may get Drew killed), our top WR, and our third WR.

Parcells has also lamented our defense not getting enough snaps. I can see him giving our offense a very vanilla gameplan to give our defense more opportunities.

This will also be a "big" game for the Niners. They have a second year coach that's trying to instill some confidence in his team. You also have Bryant, Allen, and Lawson that will have just a little something to prove.

I don't think we'll see our "dress rehearsal" tonight.

With the injuries to TO and Crayton I don't think we see our dress rehearsal until the 1st game of the season.....if we are lucky.

This game is important to those players on the bubble they must get the attention of the coaches in a positive way.

If we play as well as in the first two preseason games I'll be satisfied.

Just no injuries please.

Chance to strike a blow for freedom by beating Herr Schicklgruber.

to fans...moderately important.

In reality...not important at all, other than getting out healthy.

Winning or losing is not important at all. As others have said, getting out with no serious injuries is very important. The game is crucially important to certain players on a personal basis. They are trying to win jobs or even make the cut in some cases.

Although not important, it would be fun to win and call my Whiner fan friends in Calif. and rub it in a little.:lmao2:

I hadn't seen an update on Flozell since Tuesday or so, how long is he projected to be out?

I'm going with the trend -- stay healthy as a team and the rest is gravy. This is a good team -- I've seen enough to say this is a good team (at least) as long as it remains relatively healthy.

RT, FS, K and WR need a little work and decisions need to be made but other than that stay healthy...

is this game gonna be on tv? cause i'd love to see this game..being that there isnt any games on tv right now...i'd love it to be on. and...its saturday night and i'm bored and cowboys beatin up them sissys in san fran would make my day.
