I doubt I'm the only one surprised that they went for that with backup quarterback Cooper Rush and a few other backup players out there.

If it failed it was early but could have snowballed into a mess kind of showed me that they really have some confidence in Cooper Rush.

But I had to wonder if Dak was healthy and playing after his performance last week would they have put the ball in his hands and let him throw it on 4th and two at that point on the field.
What are you guys think??

There are likely two different perspectives and thought processes behind making that decision based on whether it was Dak or Cooper.

With Cooper in and being a huge underdog in the game, there was no reason not to take risks. With Dak, odds would have been in their favor to gain 2 yards.

That said, I think the Cowboys defense was a big reason they they took the chance more so than who was playing quarterback.

Hell no

My take is that they wanted to take advantage of every opportunity they had to get a first down in a short yardage situation. I think it was the opposite of confidence in Rush. @Reality also has a couple of valid points.

We'll never know the real reason, even if they give us one.

I'm still a little horse from yelling at the TV Screen, "No way he snaps this ball. NO WAY!"

I feel like they played the game, especially the first half, in 'we have nothing to lose' mode.

Perhaps they should do that more often? Be aggressive. Not stupid, but aggressive.

This isn't like some teams we've had in the recent past, where you're afraid to put the defense on the field because you don't trust them. Put pressure on the opponent.

All very good points, it was early in the game and the defense was fresh.
I guess if it was on the other side of the 50 I wouldn't have been so surprised but as you say it may well have been the faith in their defense more than the faith in their quarterback.
