4th down call on defense, are the cowboys prepared? if not, why not?

It sure looked like there was a lot of confusion on Atlanta's last touchdown. Stephen Bowen was standing up at the snap. DeMarcus Ware was stuck in the middle of the field. Sensabaugh looked out of sorts. And Weems, who was lined up in the backfield, broke free for an easy touchdown pass from Matt Ryan. It didn't look like the Cowboys got the fourth-down call in on time, which was an issue vs. New York earlier.

i saw this in a dallas morning news cowboys blog, this could have come back to hurt us after week caught the td, just like in the giant game on blown coveage.

who is responsible for this? I noticed on the blown coverage wade was talking to campo on the 4th down call, but isnt wade responsible since he is the defensive coordinator too.

we need to fix those things along with penalities for sure

No doubt players were not lined up and should have called a time out

It's like the thousandth time in the last few years that has happened. I think this is just the first time they've been burned that badly.

Yes, there was some confusion. Troy blamed it on the LBs, but Wade was kinda barking at Campo on the sideline.

That made me sick. It was 4th and 10, so one incompletion and we only give up 14 points.

I can't tell what's going on there. If I had to guess, Scandrick screwed up, though I guess it could have been Sensabaugh. But I still can't figure out why Hamlin went way out to the wide receiver and failed to stay as deep as the deepest receiver, which was the guy out of the backfield. At least the corner out wide has the sideline to help.

Mr. "Fix-it" strikes again!!!:( It also made me sick when they started the game by driving 80 yards like they were playing a high school defense.

How'd you feel about the 50 plus mins in between?

4 sacks on a QB who had only been sacked twice all year.

3 forced turnovers

Complete shut down of the opposition's run game.

3 and out after 3 and out allowing our offense to get on track and take over the game.

All in all I'd say that was a real nice game for Mr Fix it.

That was a good time to call a timeout.

It wasn't like they needed to save their timeouts.

This is where a smart player on the field calls a time out. Who is that guy on this team?

Not to pull up an obvious name, but you KNOW Antonio Pierce woudl have either had people in place or called that time out to make sure nothing happened.

Both Ware and Bowen were gesturing towards the sidelines and Scandrick was looking for some guidance from his teammates. The guy who should have made that call would be the signal callers on D, either Brooking or Hamlin. Both are vets, both should have known better.

But the discussion between Wade and Campo after the play makes me think something else was going on. If anything, the secondary captain should be able to recognize when receivers are in the backfield and adjust accordingly.

Been saying this since noting it in the gameday chat, the weakside linebacker is Ware and he is over center, thats a recipe for disaster. I could have run 20 yards off guard out there.

That kind of thing will be handled better once you have real veteran leadership out there that is familiar with the system and the roles. Brooking would have likely called a TO for Atlanta on the opposite side, but he's 6 games into it here. Another player - Brian Dawkins when with the Eagles.
