This was discussed the other day...My conclusion is that Garrett sees how inept the team is on 3rd down that he just says ..."to heck with it, lets punt"

This sorta ties directly into the discussion I started back in September about that punk move 56 yard FG early in the game against (err.. San Diego) earlier this season.

That was about the only situation I remember that going for it would be a good call. Otherwise, there weren't many opportunities to go for it, not to mention a lot would have been 4th and long anyways.

No prob. We cant keep track of every topic. I have done the same thing, so dont worry about it. There is a post about it that shouldnt be too many pages back if you want to see what others said.

We coach scared. Instead of going for the jugular at times and showing aggressive play calling, we play very timid and we're scared of creating a costly mistake.

I'd rather have a HC who has a pair and who's willing to go for the jugular at times, even if that means turning the ball over more or turnover on downs. At least that way we're playing to win, instead we're playing this not to lose garbage which causes us to lose anyways because of our atrocious defense. We currently have a HC who plays timid and wants to limit any possibility of creating a turnover, even if that means punting the ball within our 40 well within FG range.

A timid coach and a gunslinger QB don't make for a very good combination, so one will eventually have to give.
