Dallas can use help across the board with their roster. It was readily apparent that a team which is currently capable of competing for a Super Bowl if everyone is healthy, is not prepared to compete should some areas fall down. Dallas wasn’t prepared to move forward without Tyron Smith or Sean Lee. While losing Ezekiel Elliott to suspension is what sunk the Cowboys’ confidence in themselves, the evolution of Dak Prescott at quarterback and the best run-blocking offensive line in football should mean they’ll be better equipped in the future.

Losing Smith and Lee cratered their efforts in 2017 and will likely cost the team a shot at the playoffs, barring a Christmas miracle. So those positions should be high on the list of possible targets for the first round, right?

Not so fast my friend.

1) If one of the premier OT falls to us I say take him and move Collins back to LG, best O-line in league history.
2) Ridley- no way to bring up safeties for run support with Dez, Ridley, Whiten, and Beasley- who do you double
3) DT or Safety. My choice would be Harrison or Wilkins.

In any order:

OT (Chaz isn't the answer)
S (might need to add 2 if Jones goes to CB)
WR (True #2)
LB (We saw what happened without Lee)
1T (glaring hole for years)

Add studs in those 5 positions and next year all W's are by double didgets.

JD Drummond is a moron.

CB is not a top need.

I am not opposed to taking another CB in one of the first three rounds if he's BPA. Especially if that guy has flexibility to play some S too like Awuzie.

But I am not going out of my way to make sure I draft one if the draft board falls a certain way. That would be stupid.

LB is a much bigger "need".

In any order:

OT (Chaz isn't the answer) - Definitely would like to see them take an OT, possibly mid-round unless a stud falls to you at a high pick
S (might need to add 2 if Jones goes to CB) - I'd look to sign a vet like Vacarro or Reid but they might be pricey
WR (True #2) - Draft this guy. Deon Cain from Clemson in Rd 2 is a guy I like. I'd take Ridley in Rd 1 if he's there when we pick around the 20s.
LB (We saw what happened without Lee) - I'd draft one and make sure I resign Hitchens
1T (glaring hole for years) - My big free agent signing........... I go get Poe or Logan. Then draft a guy possibly with a comp pick as a project.

Add studs in those 5 positions and next year all W's are by double didgets.

Agree. I'm an advocate for BPA, especially in the 1st. Obviously I understand why they didn't go strictly BPA last year RB being the remaining 1st round graded player; although, I would have been OK with that RB assuming it was Cook. He could like start as a slot WR and share some snaps st RB. He obviously would have been nice to have this season.

They have minimal depth at LB as we saw this season. I don't know if Hitchens will even want to re-sign since they want to give his job to Jalen. Even with Hitchens the depth is minimal. If he does re-sign I would look at moving Jalen to SLB.

I like the options/depth at CB:
Lewis
Awuzie
Woods - Currently the slot CB.
Brown
Scandrick
Jones - Many fans want him moved to CB.

They don't really need Scandrick even if they don't add another CB.

Browns stats are much better when he has played the slot so even if Woods moves to Safety, they have options.

I'm not sure where Jones would rank as a CB relative to the others. When he covers the TE, he is really more of a CB than Safety because they usually have 2 deep Safeties in that formation also.

There are often talented LBs in the 2nd round so I think that's a good spot to get one if it's near-BPA. The cost of 4-3 LBs in free agency is lower than DL, WR, CB, etc., therefore I'm not gung-ho to draft one in the 1st. Getting a DL, WR, CB, OT seems like better 1st round value, but I wouldn't reach to get one.

Resign Cooper and guard is fine. Not drafting a tackle in round 1 to be a backup.

If Smith and Lee are healthy you can’t take a round 1 LB who will be a part time player in Rod’s system.

No WR unless the team actually cuts Dez or Williams which won’t happen

To me it’s either DL or DB. I wouldn’t mind investing several top picks to finish out the secondary overhaul

Lee is getting old and can't stay healthy, we might lose Hitchens, and beyond the potential of Smith we have nothing, not taking a LB based on what we have is stupid. We need speed, all of our WRs are nearing 30, so again ruling out a WR is stupid.

Collins is our 1-Tech, we are deep on DL unless we let Lawrence walk, and the secondary is young and deep too. LB, WR, or OT in the first. All three plus TE in the mix the rest of the draft. Frankly, if we don't draft 2 or 3 LBs this draft I will be shocked.

1T DT
1T DT
1T DT
1T DT
1T DT

Ehhh give me LB play and saftey help

I feel like we can grab a very decent priced FA to fill that void...just not go super cheap like we have been like a Poe, john hankins, snacks, etc

QB
LB
WR
TE
DT

Of course that leaves out other positions they really need to fill but you can't fit everything.

But what about the 1T?? Don't you think we need one??
That’s the most intriguing aspect of our FO I don’t understand. Collins is a pure 3T and with a solid 1T he moves back to best position and he covers the backers for guards pulling out to second level. I believe the 1T stud is the key to our defense being top 5. Why do they place such low value on the 1t. I believe Lee is better than KEuchly but he has two studs 1T in from of him that keeps guards off and Lee doesn’t
