5 Coaches Who Could Take the Cowboys to the Next Level

I do hope the next HC is a defensive guy, but I just don't know if Jerry would do it. We can hope. The first 3 on the list, honestly I don't know enough about to comment. But I like the premise for sure
^ this.

Whether one believes in Rayne Dakota or not, I think its obvious that he can continue to run this offense whether or not he has an ex-DC as a HC.

Before their defense went to crap Demeco Ryan's installed a really good defense but without an experienced successful offense the team met its limitations.

Brian Flores for the next HC here......he's psycho and that fits right in my wheelhouse

Straight up the man doesn't suffer fools or soft players

I'm not saying he's ideal by any means, but at this point among the type coaches who are possible, I would take Zimmer as HC. At least he's experienced and a total old school butt kicker who would take these players to task.

I'm sick of coaches who don't know what they're doing and whose chief motivational tactic seems to be begging the players to love them.

If forced to pick a new Head coach I guess I would go with Curt Cignetti. All he does is win,...its all he knows. Just wish he were about 10 years younger.

What do you think about this list. I agree a defensive minded coach would be a pleasant change and the direction we should go.

The way this season is going could put the Cowboys in the market for a new head coach and coaching staff. With a veteran quarterback and established offensive talent, Dallas should be able to find a good offensive coordinator.

That being said, I want the Cowboys’ next head coach to have a defensive background. This would put someone in charge who can address the team’s biggest weakness over the last few seasons, the defense.

I don’t want this to excuse the offensive inconsistency. I’m just tired of every coaching decision being what somebody can do for Dak Prescott.

1. Kirby Smart
2. Dan Lanning
3. Marcus Freeman
4. Bill Belichick
5. Nick Saban

These are coaches the Cowboys can’t assume are available. Smart and Lanning have long-term contracts, Freeman chose Notre Dame over NFL interest last December, Belichick is fine, for now, in North Carolina, and Saban loves retirement.

At this point.

I want Jerry to actually coach the team himself.

He doesnt value coaching, so save yourself the money, do it yourself.

May as well. I would get ratings which is all this old senile loser cares about anyways.

Jerry would have to coach from the booth because it would be too dangerous from the sidelines. Imagine a player getting knocked into him and breaking his hip! I'm sure he has osteoporosis given his alcohol history!!

Heard of Kirby Smart before but never seen or watched him and I would love him to come here. He resembles Jimmy and thats what this team needs most. It would also be great after lets say a 10-2 start and Jerry gets asked "does Kirby remind you of a certain former super bowl winner who coached here before"......and then watch Jerry choke up as his soul leaves his body.

Brian Flores

Not Belichick. He would bring his girlfriend and a circus to Dallas.

Absolutely yes to Chucky Gruden.

So, who is that??? Enquiring minds want to know.
My brother wants a hardnosed coach. In the modern era I don't think that works anymore. Ditka (RIP) grabbed a kid by the facemask and yanked him off the field; Mike Singletary got in a kids face after a bad play and sent him to the locker-room while the game was still being played. I don't think you can do that anymore for many reasons. One, the player will punch them in the face in they did that and two, I think players union will get the coach suspended or something like that. The players are part of society, so they are no different from the kids who talked back and challenge teachers' authority.

You and I are about the same age, since I/you played sports, our coaches would whip our *** if we talked back to the teachers or got a failing grade. Now they get fired if they did that.

I have 4 teachers in my family, 1 is a teacher for the poorest district here in SA and the other is a teacher at an alternative school. The stories I hear makes me sad and I think it's the reason why good teachers get burned out and quit. It's the teachers with the "I don't give an F" attitude who is only in it for the money that last, but they don't make good "teachers."

What's your take on getting a mean, disciplinarian type of coach? Will it work in this modern era, or do you have to be a "Players" coach?

Terrible "article".

Saban: Retired and was not good in the NFL.

Belichick: Way past his prime.

The other 3 are highliy unlikely to take an NFL HC job anytime soon.

Why not list a guy like Mike Tomlin.
- He is only 54 years old and is a very experienced NFL HC.
- He would be available.
