5 Coaches Who Could Take the Cowboys to the Next Level

No head coach who has ever won a Super bowl for one team has ever replicated the same for another team . No Ex Super Bowl winning coaches for me thank you. Besides,.......Im not out on Shotty yet,....still in his corner. Now CP? I want him gone asap. With all the time money and resources thrown at the defense there is no way on Earth our D should be anywhere close to THIS BAD. He's got to go.
We scored 16 points against the Bucs, what about all the time, money and resources that have been poured into the offense? The defense atleast has somewhat of an excuse with a new system and coach the offense has a veteran QB, and the best 1-2 WR tandem in football.

At this point.

I want Jerry to actually coach the team himself.

He doesnt value coaching, so save yourself the money, do it yourself.

May as well. I would get ratings which is all this old senile loser cares about anyways.
Stephen can call the offense and Charlotte can call the defense. Junior on STs.

The football landscape has changed over the decades. The NCAA is no longer a stepping stone to the NFL.
Some NCAA programs are more lucrative than NFL in terms of pay, security etc

Now with the transfer portal, I think the coaches that didn't care for it are largely out of the NCAA outside of Dabo.

Why should Kirby or Lanning want to leave college when their teams can out recruit and/or pay for top tier talent? Go to the NFL with the draft, dead cap contracts etc?
Nah, get those 4 and 5 star HS players, recruit top transfers, make the CFP and repeat. Oh and get paid more than NFL coaches.

What do you think about this list. I agree a defensive minded coach would be a pleasant change and the direction we should go.

The way this season is going could put the Cowboys in the market for a new head coach and coaching staff. With a veteran quarterback and established offensive talent, Dallas should be able to find a good offensive coordinator.

That being said, I want the Cowboys’ next head coach to have a defensive background. This would put someone in charge who can address the team’s biggest weakness over the last few seasons, the defense.

I don’t want this to excuse the offensive inconsistency. I’m just tired of every coaching decision being what somebody can do for Dak Prescott.

1. Kirby Smart
2. Dan Lanning
3. Marcus Freeman
4. Bill Belichick
5. Nick Saban

These are coaches the Cowboys can’t assume are available. Smart and Lanning have long-term contracts, Freeman chose Notre Dame over NFL interest last December, Belichick is fine, for now, in North Carolina, and Saban loves retirement.

Lol - Freeman would be perfect. All flash, no substance. In 2 years everyone would be complaining about him too. 2 of those guys are wayyy too old. BB? He is the definition of shot. The other 2 would never work for the Jones boys.

No coach is going to fix this. You people must see that by now. Please God pay attention. The problem is the ownership. Period.

Hmmmm......let's examine this list of college coaching "gurus" for the current Cowboys:
1. Kirby Smart (has talent all around his Georgia teams)
2. Dan Lanning (has talent all around his Oregon teams)
3. Marcus Freeman (has talent around his teams and always a routinely kind schedule)
4. Bill Belichick (has no talent around him at NC, and working with Bobby "I quit" Petrino)
5. Nick Saban (had talent all around his teams, but ventured into the NFL experience without talent before....he been thru the NFL headache)

None of these coaches have to submit to Dak or the offense......it's the defense, in need of better player evaluation, and scouting that is still of concern (Front Office)

Even the best QBs get shutdown from time to time. There’s plenty to criticize Dak for, but not one terrible game

The best thing any coach could do for Dak Prescott is fix the dog doo defense.

Most of the resources on defense has been injured but I think we shouldn’t have thrown CP head first into the ocean. His whole staff is full of your coaches will limited NFL experience. We should have gave him a senior Defense advisor over the offseason. Basically a young coach mentor. I am not off the CP train yet. Had he been bad yes. But he also called plays relying on his players to make plays and they just ain’t making them. I do wish he would blitz more though. We have shown we can’t get to the QB just blitzing 4 all the time. He has to get more creative. I believe he will figure it out. The current Vikings DC was also terrible his first year.

Hey it’s not my $10-20 million dollars. I’m just presenting that Kirby Smart is getting paid a lot more and that I don’t know if Jerry would be willing to pay it right now (not saying he wouldn’t and I know he can if he wants to.) Still I think it’s a pipe dream. Why would he leave Georgia?
I agree, JJ is too dam old and too dam greedy to be running this organization anymore.
