sounds pretty good to me! the future is bright!
starters by round on defense
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ellis - 8th pick in the 1st round

Glover - 5th round

Spears - 20th pick in the 1st round

Ware - 11th pick in the 1st round

James - 4th rounder

Shanle - 7th rounder

Fugita - 5th rounder

Newman - 5th pick in the 1st round

Henry - 4th rounder

Glenn - 12th pick in the 1st round - 1994

Williams - 8th pick in the 1st round

Davis - not drafted

so 6 out of 12 players in the 1st round...thats pretty good...canty 4th rounder...fergy...late rounder...

I dont know that most defenses have 6 out of 12 in the 1st round...and 5 of them 12th or higher...thats more impressive...time for these guys to get even better...notice our weak spots...late rounders...fugita, davis, shanle...henry 4th rounder...and canty...not too bad along with bradie...4th rounder also.

This makes no sense. Glover and Glenn, for example, have been in the league so long it doesn't matter where they were drafted. I don't think they're on the cusp of blossoming. Newman and Williams are already excellent players, so they're playing on more than potential. Spears and Ware are the only 2 players playing on potential right now. It looks like you'll have a solid defense for quite a while, but once players are in the NFL, it really doesn't matter where they were drafted.
I could have Tony Mandarich protecting Ryan Leaf faking to KiJana Carter and throwing to Sylvester Morris, but I'd rather have Brian Waters protecting Tom Brady who fakes to Terrell Davis and throws to Rod Smith.

Yes. I am a Chiefs fan, and we are playing the Cowboys tomorrow. It makes perfect sense. Next week I will likely be at a Giants board discussing their team.

How about our 2 starting receivers being drafted #1 overall (Keyshawn) and #7 overall (Terry Glenn), not too shabby.

Yeah, and what do we have to show for all these great draft picks? A low level of mediocrity, correct? No division titles since 1998, 3 one and done playoff appearances in the same span, and a 7-5 and hanging on for dear life and soon to fall off the cliff (tomorrow) record for this season. Plus, our defensive first rounders (the ones we drafted) are, with the exception of Williams, solid players but not difference makers and frankly, I have been disappointed with the whole lot of those first rounders (including Williams from time to time).

The Lions have 3 in the last 3 years.
And their combined production can't tough what Key and Glenn have done this year. What was your point again?

DallasDWoodson just made my point for me. The point is that this thread is pointless.

OUR DEFENSIVE #1's most of them have been drafted in last 3 years...very recent...which means very soon we will be at the top of our conference...

It's much better to have good young players than highly drafted young players. Draft position is of absolutely no consequence once the player enters the league. Bledsoe was a #1 overall pick, BTW.
