5 Veterans Who Won’t Make Dallas Cowboys’ 53-Man Roster In 2015

This is the time when many NFL players are scared, and it isn't of getting injured. This is the time where a lot of players get the calls into the coach's office, get sat down and get told they are no longer part of the team. With cut time right around the corner, some veterans may be looking for work in the coming weeks as their teams work on trimming their rosters down to the magic number of 53.

Dunbar will most likely be left out of the squad this season. Joseph Randle has had a great camp, and Darren McFadden looked pretty solid if not awesome against the St. Louis Rams in joint practices. With cuts coming up, it's hard to look at Dunbar and justify a roster spot for a guy who has decent hands and speed. Catching passes out of the backfield is great and all, but McFadden can do that as well.
4. James Hanna

With the guys they have on the roster, Hanna has to be the odd man out. Gavin Escobar emerged last season as a legitimate end zone threat. He is big, has great hands and he can get open when the Cowboys run their two tight end sets. Jason Witten is who he is, and he isn’t going to be bumped off as the No. 1 TE any time soon. People say he has lost a step, but he is still Tony Romo’s security blanket and is a great blocker.
3. Brandon Weeden

Weeden will be the most interesting cut. He's apparently had a good camp according to the coaches, and some have even said Weeden is the most improved player at camp. It will not be enough. After the first preseason game and the botched snap, his chances to be part of the team are dwindling. Dustin Vaughan has shown he can be a decent backup, and with the emergence of Jameill Showers, Weeden's time in Dallas is all but over.
