5. Bobby Slowik, Houston Texans offensive coordinator

A fast-rising coaching candidate, Bobby Slowik is just 36 years of age but has been coaching since 2011. He spent his entire coaching career with Kyle Shanahan, working with him in Washington back in 2011 through 2013. He was an analyst with PFF for a few years before Shanahan brought him back to the coaching ranks in 2017.

Slowik was with the 49ers until this year when DeMeco Ryans brought him to Houston to serve as the Texans offensive coordinator. He guided C.J. Stroud to an excellent rookie campaign and got the most out of several wideouts throughout the year. If Dallas wants an offensive-minded coach who can match wits with Shanahan, this could be their guy.

4. Mike Macdonald, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator

3. Ben Johnson, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator

The Lions have been one of the best stories in the league as they won the NFC North for the first time. They're a very well-rounded team but their offense has been elite. They're top five in both yards and points and if they were in the race for the No. 1 seed until late in the year.

What's been most impressive is the way Johnson has gotten the most out of Jared Goff. He went from a quarterback who was widely considered a bust to someone who has thrown for more than 4,000 yards in each of the past two seasons while boasting an interception rate under two percent during his time under Johnson.

2. Aaron Glenn, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator

1. Dan Quinn, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator

Those are all unrealistic candidates. Jerry would never hire a first year head coach with this roster.
