The final OTA sessions begin today.
These are 5 questions the writers at the mothership ask. Yes there are many other questions as well.
I think many of these will not be answered until TC though.

We fans can probably come up with better questions.

Their questions are about.

Sanders making a push for RB1
Which player gets the green dot at LB
Can Spann-Ford make a push for TE2
Where does Thomas fit in the secondary
What does Leupke's role look like

Where are the Keys to mod kingdom!!

Anyways, I don't think anyone views Sanders as a RB 1 if anything it's Williams, a lot of these points aren't really valid until we see these guys compete with pads and other safety equipment on! Underwear Olympics 2025 edition

respectfully ....

Sanders making a push for RB1 --this means your RB room is trash so no, not likely. He has topped 180 carries 1 time in his career and was immediately let go in FA following that season.
Which player gets the green dot at LB --This means you lack a true MLB.
Can Spann-Ford make a push for TE2 --Only if injury drives this.
Where does Thomas fit in the secondary --3rd safety.
What does Leupke's role look like -- this is wasted breath, he is a fringe part of roster. half his snaps will be ST.

MY 5:

How do Steele and Guyton look against our edge rushers?
How fast are the LB's and S's picking up the new system?
Can Tioa get any push and/or hold up against our interior guys?
Who's getting the goal line/short yardage touches at RB?
Is Dak mobile enough to run away from danger?

Here's the problem none of that matters in Ota's mini camps the only thing that matters is who comes out of the last week or so of camp preparing for preseason games then we'll see what the depth chart really looks like this these short playing heroes throwing against air going 3 quarter speed it doesn't impress me anywhere all over the nfl i'm seeing these reports about how great people are or how many interceptions are throwing it doesn't matter this is just the implementation of players to coaches and giving them a little taste of the playbook nothing more ota's mean nothing as far as depth charts and players I don't care what you hear coming out of these little OTA's it's absolutely like eating lettuce. zero calories but tasteless...

Part of that might be correct but really any reports coming out of this type of OTA it doesn't mean anything.. They're getting used to the coaches and the new players and some of the playbook that's it this stuff is all done in shorts against air at half speed...

But as far as competition goes you act like they're trying to figure out who's going to get the green dot you do realize that would be 2 players you have to have two guys in case of injury that can wear that and make the play calls so that's totally wrong absolutely totally wrong you don't understand that that's what these camps and practices are for you got to find multiple players that can fill in and make calls like your backup center your backup quarterback your backup linebacker have to where the green dot they have to be able to make line calls etcetera you have to have more than one person do that...

But the fun part for fans is watching who is fighting for the number one spot that doesn't mean you don't have a true middle linebacker it means you have multiple players that are close in talent and they'll have to battle it out in camp and in preseason and the best man will win the job that is fun for fans..

Again these reports are silly I heard last week that Williams looks like his old self he could be the running back one you have to be careful of all these players and these reports coming out of AOTA training camp is where this stuff gets sorted out preparing for preseason games is where that's truly comes to light but you need multiple players that can wear the green dot and make the line calls get people lined up on defense on offense it is not one player you don't understand what practice is then that's the opportunity for these guys to learn the number one spot even if they're falling into the number two spot...

They'll look good at times against our pass rushers and vice versa, when it's time to go out there on game days both OT's and pass rushers will look not as good as they did in practice

There's no answer to that not right now I mean usually realize that most of this is not really tackling they're not hating they're not in full pads this is like a glorified walkthrough OTas mean nothing not to us you're not going to sort these questions out anything that was just written by the original poster is really nothing but a report we'll know midway through training camp and when we start lining up for preseason games who the better players start rising on the depth chart etc until then this all puff pieces all around the NFL i'm watching the same thing the same type of reports coming out how great they're throwing against air how great they're catching the football with no one really covering them no game plans I mean even in preseason games it's not going to be a great barometer but at least there will get to see it for ourselves....

So yeah watching all these reports coming out of all these early practices are insane to me anybody taking any of it seriously is really not up to date on what this stuff is really for early....

My five questions as of June 4, 2025:
  1. Are the Cowboys seriously going into a real NFL season with Osa Odighuizhua as our only real DT? We can’t be serious thinking Mazi and three 7th round draft picks from the last two drafts are going to do just fine. Right?
  2. Are we done at RB? Are the Cowboys actually starting the 2025 season with the RB room of Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, a 5th round rookie in Jaydon Blue, who is fast but undersized and has never been a primary ball carrier in college?
  3. Is this run defense - the unquestioned weakest part of our team for years - better than the run defense last 5 seasons?
  4. Is Tyler Guyton a guy we can count on to be solid in 2025 at the most important OL position- Left Tackle?
  5. Is our rookie head coach (who has never been a HC at any level) fully prepared to be both an NFL HC and playcaller?
There are many more questions going into this season but these are the ones I’m most concerned about.

I'm not sure why some are thinking that Williams is a shoe-in for the #1 spot. Seems most who think that are banking that he will be back to his pre-injury rookie form w/o looking at the fact that he was barley better than 2024 Zeke last season

You're right, my 5 questions are more for training camp not ota's
But, when TC starts, these are 5 questions that want to get answers to for. These 5 questions will go a long way to determining if we will be able to contend in the NFC or not.

Hopefully in the last place you'd look for them.

I keed, I keed.
I made a personal decision to keep searching even after I've found the item I lost.....been doing it since 2013 and its helped develop my Chi to a higher level

How many NFL teams are having questions about who gets the green dot?
Very few I am guessing because that is a serious, serious problem. The green dot guy is calling your defense. You need to know who that is NOW as you install the NEW defense.
Who is the Cowboys starting MLB?? I do not see a starting caliber MLB on the field. Agent Zero appears to that guy when he returns from injury.

Javonte Williams may be fine at RB. But he has put up ~1400 rushing yards across the last 3 NFL seasons. He averaged 3.65 yards per carry the last 2 years. He graded out at Zeke Elliot level. So, this is a case of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Dallas will have to show me they have a starting caliber running back before I believe it. Javonte Williams is significantly less highly regarded than Tony Pollard who I thought was just a solid starter at best.

I understand these guys are doing a job in reporting and asking questions and I get that all we are right now are OTAs. But these questions are frankly embarrassing, not heart-warming. Dallas really is starting at square one.

I don't think we're going to have those answers until we actually get to see them in preseason even then there's going to be? I get what you're saying but everything people are seeing or hearing now is a bunch of puff pieces there's nothing else to report..

A lot of veteran players or gamers practice and preseason you're not going to see the real production from a lot of the older veterans especially at the running back position but when you're not game planning and everything is vanilla be careful what you think you're seeing or hearing coming out of camp or preseason do you really think that coaches want to let on who's going to be their starter they're going to let this competition go on for as long as possible especially defensive tackle and running back.

Also corner with all those There's a lot of competition from those unproven players but I don't think we're gonna know by just watching training camp or hard knocks or anything like that it's gonna be nice for us to see the competition but knowing the answers to those questions we're gonna know that at cut down last game of preseason what the coaches really think of all these players they're watching every snap and every cut up from every video they take they're gonna take it all into account and they'll pick the best players..

I mean in my guesstimation at least 40 of the fifty three spots are already pretty much set.. ...

I just choose not to take this so seriously I want to say an open competition for those 13 spots plus 10 more that's 23 if you count the practice squad that's the fun part but the coaches can take a hard right or a hard left on some of these players and we could see a cut down some surprise cuts and them go with somebody else they pick somebody else that was cut off a roster or make a trade because they're not comfortable what they've seen as a whole..

I get it right now there's nothing else to talk about it's not a big deal I just don't like the whole entire NFL right now everything I'm seeing on Twitter the videos the stories coming out of all these otas it's just laughable to me people taking anything from it because they're playing at half speed and shorts and anything you see that the teams want you to see isn't really the same as the stuff they're doing in closed practices and behind the scenes.

It's not about a question mark, maybe you missed a point!!

first of all ,

we have two new players at linebacker while we're waiting on Overshown to come back, but I don't even know if he comes back he's going to be the green dot guy, He's not really a middle linebacker so you keep bringing up middle linebackers and they're not the only ones who wear the green dot by the way.

but you're missing the point,

they both need to get equal time being the play caller, just like at center; hoffman needs as much of the time on the field to get used to the line calls as Cooper BB, they need to both know as much as possible in case they're forced into a game because of injury, or when you're doing rotations,

so stop with the nonsense I don't want to hear about your opinion about there's so many??? there less than you think..

we do we already know Sanborn can be a green dot guy , he was already Matts Defense.. Just like when Kendricks came here he immediately because he knew Mike's Defense that he was likely gonna be that guy that doesn't mean there wasn't other guys practicing it just in case he missed games or needed a blow somebody else needs to know the damn position!!!!!!

You're making a mountain out of a molehill like all these other fans who question everything and act like they don't know what they're doing!!

the coaching staff know,

they have a plan they already ,know who they want and they're going to give them equal time on the field just in case,
after last year, are you serious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you know how many injuries we had on D alone, it pretty much wrecked the season,
you got to have all your players that could be flex into positions they all need to have a chance in camps and OTA's to play multiple positions just in case especially at quarterback, center, and yes the green dot guy, and you know what in the years past I saw Dan Quinn allow the safety to do that he didn't necessarily even have to be the linebacker, i'm pretty sure Kearse at one time who was technically a strong safety who plays some linebacker but he was not a middle linebacker!!!
middle linebackers are not undersized safeties,
so whatever you think in your mind you're seeing your hearing or what you think you know I'm disagreeing with you. They have a plan and whatever you're hearing is what they want you to hear but you're absolutely misinterpreting what's going on at camps... you don't understand that's exactly what practice is for; to get more players involved, even if they're going to be backups at knowing what their job would be should to be forced into starting.

It's just comical that I have to explain that to you,

but that's all right you could disagree with me but I'm telling you that's what you're seeing you're seeing multiple players get chances to practice with the green dot ,

you're getting to see what the coaches want you to see but they need to practice it just in case they're forced into it I'm pretty sure they know going into this that Sanborn's going to be the starting middle linebacker and I have no problems with that at all.

Did really a problem having a guy get a chance to beat that guy out and also if he is number two to learn to position learn to play calls I don't get why didn't you think this is a problem because it's not....

By the way you do realize that Zach Baughn was a bargain basement pretty much hadn't had anything really to consider achievements as a middle linebacker but he came into the Eagles who also started two rookie corners on defense and it worked out for them but don't think the back of their mind didn't have? There that linebacker didn't have much of a career before he got there they were risking a lot just like they were wrong about Huff...

All teams will have some? Sure but I'm sure there were some other people in camps and OTA's that were competing with him he didn't get handed to the job not with that resume don't try to act like they knew what they were getting when they got it because they did not he was no different than Sanborn or Kendrick's the Cowboys did it so do other teams they took a risk on a guy they thought would fit their defense if it worked out for them...

Jevonte Willaims will start at RB1.

Kenneth Murray Jr will green dot the defense.

Juanyeh will be given an opportunity even more so with Hooker leaving practice with an apparent injury.

Leupke will be same as last season only more touches.

Just my guesses of course.
RB1 -- I think you are essentially correct but not sure anyone will truly be RB1. It may be committee that changes with situation and health.
Kenneth Murray -- Does this include once Agent Zero is back? Because he sure looks like LB1 going forward.
BSF -- Then who does he pass? You giving up on an R2 pick already? Moving on from Ferguson this season? This seems a very long shot.
Juanyeh -- Good player and part of rotation but Dallas trusts the 2 starting safeties in their roles more. Hooker doesn't need to play at all in pre-season to be trusted.
Leupke -- Yup. Little to any change here. There are like 8 guys in the NFL that actually play fullback. He has a very safe roster spot here but there is no path to much more work on offense. Any questions here are more about bringing up a pet cat than dealing in reality IMHO.
