1. He is just 2 years removed from a 19.5 sack season, and just 1 year removed from a injury riddled 11.5 sack season
2. You could see a guy who was slowed by injury BIG time last year. When healthy he is not the guy we all witnessed last season
3. He is a hall of fame player. This is not Jay Ratliff. He is a face of the franchise along with Witten and Romo.
4. He is a family man. I honestly don't see him picking up and moving him and his family unless he is pushed out of town. I just don't see him leaving over a small pay cut.
5. Who wants to see possibly a whole new 4 man defensive front? Trust me, Rod does not.

Except for #5, these all sound like good reasons for him to leave! :D

He knows what he has done in the past and, like most humans, he does not recognize his own mortality. He will cling to past accomplishments before acknowledging the inevitableness of age. He probably believes that the rash of injuries the past one-and-a-half seasons were an anomaly.

Concerning his HOF credentials, all the more reason why his pride will not allow him to take a pay cut. He knows Ratliff is a scumbag and he is not like him; he will do what he must to maintain his dignity as a future HOF player. Taking the pay cut would be demeaning to a player like Ware.

Finally, as for the family man angle, he will do what he feels is right for his family's benefit. Unfortunately, Ware might believe that money is his family's only opportunity for peace of mind. The little voice inside his head is going to be saying take your chance and seek the money offered by the highest bidder.

1. So let's live in the past? And keep paying a guy who is now banged up all the time?

What is it with some and wanting to hold onto these guys forever? It was the same with Emmitt Smith. That's great what he did in the past. But it's not helping us now. Ware at his price is not helping us with what we are getting on the field.

And he already said he is not taking a pay cut. So yes, he pretty much will leave if he is not paid every penny what he wants.

There is something to be said about keeping players for legacy purposes.
The steelers are going through this with Palamalu now. But unlike Ware he has two superbowls with that franchise & Ware has none, not his fault of course.
