Crawford takes $4mil pay cut
Restructure 1 of Martin or Lawrence

Sign: Jimmy Smith, Mike Daniels and Taylor Gabriel
Smith is a vet that has plenty left int he tank and should be an instant plug and play starter. 2/$18M w/9 guaranteed
Daniels reunites with McCarthy as a rotational DT. If healthy and kept on a snap count he could be affective cheap signing. 1/$4M w/ 2 guaranteed
Gabriel is a fast deep pay threat that can also make plays in space. Not a bad 3rd/4th receiving option. 2/$10M w/ 5 guaranteed

Draft trade: Pats move up to 17 to draft Jordan Love. We receive 23, 87, and 125 for 17 and 233

23- Zack Baun LB/DE Wiconsin- The #2 pass rusher in this draft class in my opinion. Slightly undersized is only complaint you can find.1.54 10 yard split is elite (same as WR Justin Jefferson) and shows the dip and flexibility to turn the counter. Can play off ball LB effectively as well. His nfl.com profile comparison is Clay Matthews and I don't see it as far off.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/zack-baun?id=32194241-5567-7316-c31c-c66079e71b79

51- Bryce Hall CB Virgina- Big corner with great ball skills. Good overall coverage skills and always turns and finds the ball. This is a very deep CB class and letting a very good prospect like Hall fall to us in the 2nd is the right move imo.

82- Jabari Zuniga DE Florida- College career never took off as it should have because of injuries, but has showed big potential and has great athletic ability. May never be more than a situational pass rusher, but has the size and speed to be a very affective 1. Quinn as the comparison is another 1 I can easily see
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jabari-zuniga?id=32195a55-4e20-7645-bad6-222cbc88c769

87- Antonio Gibson WR Memphis- Dynamic athlete that played both WR and RB, also returned kicks. Juco transfer that got a late start and is still raw, but there no doubting his playmaking ability with the ball in his hand. Think of a more athletic Ty Montgomery.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/antonio-gibson?id=32194749-4241-5285-a215-d633ff9a6f70

Trade 122 and 127 for 102

102- Cameron Clark OT Charlotte- Small school LT with a good frame. He may end up better off at OG because of slightly heavy feet, but the potential is there to develop.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/cameron-clark?id=3219434c-4161-6840-82c8-a414ed470baf

156- Kamren Curl S Arkansas- 3 year starter at SS for Arkansas. Jack of all trades, but master of none type of guy. Can cover and tackle, but doesn't jump out in 1 category. Should make a solid backup that can play either S spot if needed.
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kamren-curl?id=32194355-5215-6872-6685-585f8c8e4ff9

Ehhhh. I'd rather sign Griffen at DE for Smith's money and draft a CB. I don't like Baun and counting on him and his smallish size to be an impact pass rusher right from the start (which you would be doing based on your FA/draft) would be a stretch IMO.

Appreciate the effort.

Out of curiosity, what don’t you like about Baum besides the size? And I have him listed as a DE, but I think he’s be more of a hybrid pass rushing SAM like Bruce Irvin was for Seattle

Size is big one. Two, I think people are liking him because of another somewhat undersized edge player in TJ Watt from Wisconsin. He's a specialty player and when you have some big needs elsewhere on this team, I can't take a chance on a specialty edge player.

I know he's seen as a late first round guy but he just scares me. I'd rather take a chance on a kid like Weaver or Okwara who are bigger, lankier and more athletic in the 2nd round (granted, none of these guys might be there at 51).

Chaisson is the edge guy I want if we are going to go that route in the first round.

Fair enough, thanks. Although I would say you’re underestimating Baun as an athlete. 10 yard split and 3 cone are most important for a pass rusher imo and at 1.54 and 7 flat Baun is approaching, if not, elite in both. I understand the size concerns but if not asked to put his hand in the ground every play I think he’ll be very affective

Maybe but he still strikes me as a specialist more than an every down player. And right now if we go DE based on our roster, we need to look for guys that can grow into that.

That DT core would give me nightmares, not in a good way either.

How would the DT’s not be an upgrade from last year?
Daniels is a washed up fatboy. Rather have somebody in the draft.

And then you have hill and woods. how is this an upgraded DL? Adding McCoy? doesnt make this a upgraded DL if all u add is daniels lol

Nice draft, adding two dynamic players that can get to the QB while addressing the DL and LB is a nice touch. Hall is about the best CB I've seen in my drafts at 51 that could compete for playing time this year and with two current players being free agents next year it would help us not be in such bind at a hard to fill position next year. I would probably grab a DT somewhere in the top 100 picks though. Guys like Fotu, Jones, Stowbridge could be options.
