5 weeks in and we are coaching AROUND our OL

It amazes me that we can be this EARLY in the season and are already coaching around this OL. Which mean we miscalculated BADLY what we thought we had. We have weapons galore...and it matters not because of the poor play of the OL. Football has always started in the trenches. Even Jerry knows this. Which mean he DECIDED this OL was good enough. Well this OL is NOT good enough. And the coaching staff, skill position players and QB know this. And if they know this 5 weeks into a season, that means this OL was NEVER going to be good enough to do much this year. So how come we missed this badly on talent evaluation of the OL? I know nobody gives away OTs...so not sure what moves could have been made this offseason...but it is more than the OTs....we are bad up and down the line with the exception of Doug Free.

Screen after screen after screen after screen was an indication that we did not TRUST this OL. We barely even looked at Roy or Miles unless we HAD to! So what is the point of having all of these "toys" when you do not call plays that gets the ball to them?

Good point; the same thing happened earlier in this season but I can't remember which game (they've all kinda blended together)

Again, the people ripping on Romo obviously understand how much he has to prop up the O Line. Running for hos life and playing behind a good portion of the season. I would love to see three if not four new O Line starters next year.

We should seriously invest in an entirely new line. Keep the mobile guys, dump the fatsos, and switch to a different scheme

Pretty much.

What did Jerry say about this Oline this offseason? Oh yeah...dumb

I would like someday to find out what the players really think about the oline, the playcalling, etc.

The problem now is how long does it take to draft and coach up a decent O lineman. the alternative is get into a bidding war for any servicable FA available next year. Hopefully they can trade someone for a decent lineman now and be ready for next year. I think this year is a wrap as of today and can only wait for next year. Also that last play today... at least someone tell them to die (lose) with dignity, that was Detroit 3 years ago. Geesh

Is it all on the players? Couldn't some of it be in the scheme? Good coaches coach to the ability of the players. Not force feed what the players can't do.
I think we have a mixture of both, but our coaches have no clue how to adjust.

I wonder if it isn't a problem with Garrett's philosophy.

How many decidedly pass happy offensive coordinators have such oversized OLs?

Pat McQuistan is starter for the Dolphins o-line which is doing pretty good. Makes you wonder if its the players or the coaches.

The funny part is that most fans never saw this coming either...the one position, left tackle, that everyone was fearful we hadn't taken care of, is now the best position on the team.

I wouldn't be shocked if Sam Young replaced Columbo by year's end, allowing Brewster to move inside by next year.

Brewster is gone, he was released this week.

If Kosier is gone for the yr, I suspect they'll call up Travis Bright from the PS.

The whole offensive line has to be scratched except for Free. he is young enough and athletic enough to keep. The rest of them not so much.

They all stink in space, we are so limited on what we can run because of it. JG has his issues but he is also hand cuffed week after week trying to mask their issues.

For being as big as they are you would think they could at least get a push at the LOS but that doesnt happen either. MBIII did a great job finding creases on those 3rd down runs, its not like he was following blocks to day light.

Coach them. They are starters in the freakin NFL. They had to be good enough at some point. Coach them to be better.
