Quick free agency note:
I'm hoping the Cowboys will pursue OJ Atogwe at some point in the near future. So for this mock I'll assume we release Hamlin and sign Atogwe to an offer sheet, where the Rams do not respond.
1. Maurkice Pouncey, G/C Florida
If the Cowboys stay put at #27, Pouncey has to be the man. He was my pick in my last mock draft; he provides the future at center when Gurode leaves, and can immediately compete with Kosier for the LG spot. A top 15 talent at the #27 selection is great value.
2. Lamarr Houston, DT Texas
Depth behind Ratliff is needed. It's known what will happen with Spears/Bowen/Hatcher in the next couple of years, and Houston ran a 4.85 at 305 lbs at the combine. That's very impressive for a man his size, and Wade likes those quicker, powerful defensive linemen.
3. Brandon Spikes, ILB Florida
Jerry Jones see a playmaking Bradie James in his eyes. Put on the tape of Spikes and you'll see a first round talent. He'll end up being a major steal just because of his forty time.
4. Javier Arenas, CB/KR Alabama
Here's out punt/kick returner, plus he adds solid depth at corner.
5. Traded for Holland
6. Danario Alexander, WR, Missouri
I have a feeling it'll become a consistent theme for Dallas to draft WR's late in drafts. Look at Austin, Ogletree, Crayton and Hurd. All of them were basically undrafted (Crayton-7th) and we know Austin, Crayton, and Ogletree will contribute next year.
7. J'Marcus Webb, OT, West Texas A&M
An intriguing prospect who will hopefully knock McQuistan off the roster for good.
