If Brian Waters plays anything like he did in New England and the offense stays relatively healthy this season, can the Cowboys score 500 points?

That would be the most points scored by any Cowboys team since the inception of the franchise, but it's not such a rarity for offensively talented teams in this age of offense-friendly officiating.

The 2007 team scored 455 points, which remains second most in Cowboys history, and I put to you the 2013 Cowboys have more talent at the offensive skill positions.

Dez >= TO
Miles > Crayton
Witten = Witten
Romo >= Romo
Murray > Barber

500 points is a reasonable goal. 400 points should be the bare minimum. What say you?

It will be nice to see this team play with leads. Not only to feed the running game more but to protect a DL that feels like it hasn't come together yet and might be vulnerable to strong run games themselves. Such as week 2 and forcing the chiefs away from J Charles and to rely on Alex Smith.

I'd like to see em click like that and assuming they get a faster start early this year with Dez coming around and a little more cohesion on the O-line I could see em matching the 07 team. That with a stingy RZ defense will make for a nice season.

If the defense can start getting turnover 500 is do'able offense has not gotten much help in terms of defense giving them the ball back off of turnovers.

Depends on how much the new defense provides in terms of turnovers and shorter fields.

The point about turnovers is well taken. High scoring offenses have defenses who force turnovers in bunches, even when those defense aren't particularly stout.

Help NO won a SB with a great offense and a defense who gave up yards but lead the league in take aways.

Murray > barber C'mon (No way sorry not even close)

2007 OL > 2013 OL

If you prefer Barber over Murray, that's fine. I think Murray is a bit more talented. He just needs to stay healthy.

In 2007, line play deteriorated at the end of the season. The 2013 line is less proven, but it has more upside because, outside of Brian Waters, it's younger.

At this point TO was better than Dez and Barber was better than Murray.

Nope. We might make a run at the 2007 number, at best, I'd say. That alone would be very impressive, though.

With the substandard defensive team Kiffie has inherited (yes and injuries too, but don't all team half injuries?), the offense (Romo) will have to score the 500.

The highest scoring team in Cowboys History was the 1966 squad. They scored 445 points in 14 games to average 31.8 points per game. That team had 3 games over 50 points scored.

500 points would come to 31.25 points per game. It would take 509 points to actually top the scoring ability of the 1966 squad.

Not impossible, but that is a tall order. A single really low scoring game can stall something like that dead in it's tracks.

But hanging a 6 a 7 handle on someone would make up for it

So you would take 2007 TO over Dez right now? Interesting.

I wouldn't. Dez's 2012 season was very comparable to TO's 2007 season, and Dez managed the bulk of it over the last half of the season.

I take Dez over TO all day and everyday.

Only because TO was an established receiver in his prime. Thats like saying Dez is already better than TO, so hes a lock for the HOF and 150+ TD's?
