Of the Cowboys. Well, it was last year, but from what I understood, they would be celebrating it this year. So far though, I've seen no marketing of a 50th anniversary logo or any special events to commemorate it.

Anyone heard or seen anything? This is so un-Jerry like.

Nope, and I don't care. I will not celebrate 50 years in year 51. As far as I am concerned Jerry screwed that up.

The 50th year and the 50th anniversary are not the same thing.

I agree. But I think he didn't want to step on the AFL's 50th celebration last year.

That's my guess.

We had the 25th Anniversary in 1984, the 25th year.

Then he's a fool in that regard. It was 50th anniversary for every team that got its genesis in 1960, except one.

The Vikings got started in 1961. They are the only team who deserve to celebrate 50 years this year. We lost our chance.

I'm with ya. Thought it was stupid at the time. I think we even discussed this via pm. It made no sense then and makes even less sense now.

Jerry must have made that decision when he was Drunk.

He didn't want to take attention away from the new stadium, as if an inanimate object has feelings. :rolleyes:

Maybe in Jerry's mind, his Cowboys were created in 1989.

Congrats to the Vikings and their fans on 50 years.

sigh...

Okay, so I'm not the only one bewildered by this. The thought keeps reoccuring that nothing ever happened and I cant help but wonder why.

This is the original image of our 25th anniversary. Where is our 50th????

I've never thought of that, but you are completely correct (as usual).

It's like if you got married in 1960. Your 1st year anniversary would be in 1961
2nd year anniversary = 1962
3rd = 1963
4th = 1964
5th = 1965
6th = 1966
7th = 1967
8th = 1968
9th = 1969
10th = 1970
20th = 1980
30th = 1990
40th = 2000
50th year anniversay = 2010

This year is definately the 50th year anniversary of the Dallas Cowboys.

I guess all of the previous belly-aching was all for nothing. Thanks for clearing things up Adam!

Both views are right.

It is not our 50th season as we have played 50 already BUT it is the 50th anniversary of the start of the franchise.

1960-2010 is 50 years.

However, we are playing our 51st season.

You could not have said it was our 50th anniversary last year as it was the 50th season. This year you can say it is our 50th anniversary but not that it is our 50th season.

The Montreal Canadiens just celebrated their 100th anniversary. The franchise was born December 4, 1909 so we had our 100th birthday game December 4, 2009.

However, we started the celebration the year before for our 100th season even though they didn't factor in the strike year of 04-05 which wiped out a season.

In the end, does it really matter?

We had a new stadium last year, there was the 50th season celebration of the AFL teams.

I mean, come on, does it really matter in the overall scheme of things.
