This thread is about the event...

It's not about gun-laws.

However if you would like to talk about gun laws please check out the very active "Gun Law" thread over at our sister forum: Punndits.com

My 8th grade English teacher was a student then and was hiding behind a tree on the South Mall? not far from a pregnant woman and her husband/boyfriend that had been shot. I believe the husband died instantly but the pregnant lady survived if I remember her story correctly.

Yep... Her unborn child perished also.

Feel bad for all those folks that died or were wounded.

Feel especially bad for his wife who he stabbed while she was sleeping and the receptionist who had her skull crushed by him as he entered the building.

Today it would be just another mass killing and be in the news for a few days and be on to something else

Oh no question.

But at the time it was beyond stunning.

Keep in mind that it was only a couple weeks prior (July 14th) when Richard Speck murdered the 8 nurses in Chicago.

The summer of '66 was really bad.
