I was unsettled with our LB's and our secondary. We have some holes to fill. When you try to break down the roster at every position it makes you realize our draft can go in any direction and it's a difficult task.

Curtis is gone, they didn't tender him an offer. Rodney Hannah is penciled in as the current 3rd TE and the coaches really like him. He was on the practice squad the last two years.

Marten is also gone, cut during the season and now with the Raiders. Doug Free and Pat McQuistan should be on the oline depth. Free is the developmental LT with good feet and McQuistan is the swing tackle. Cory Procter is the the swing center/guard.(Not that I'm happy with that)

Justin Rogers is at backup OLB and has worked some at backup ILB. Polk is more of an ILB and he is unsigned at the moment.

Pretty sure Marten is no longer on the roster. Maybe you meant Doug Free?

I always get those two confused.

Free should definitely be on there and McQuistan likely will make the team also, IMO.

I am one of the few guys here (maybe the only one) who is kind of excited about Octavien. That guy is a special teams demon and I could see him developing into a good LB for us. He has the nasty attitude we need and is very high energy. On a big defense... he gives us a smaller guy who moves very well.

If we keep Carpenter and cut Octavien, I'll be pissed.

BTW, if he becomes a starter... will Octavien change his name to Augustus? :p:

I flip those two in my mind also for some reason.

I'm done with McQ I hope we replace him in the draft. I like Octavien more than Carpenter but aren't we sunk with Carpenter's contract for another year?

I don't think we're stuck with Carpenter $$ wise... but I'm not sure. He isn't close to what Octavien could be for us, IMO. It will be a real shame if we have to keep Carpenter and cut a promising guy like Octavien.

I still hope that some 4-3 team might give us something (anything?) for Bobby. Perhaps we will use him to sweeten a draft day trade up or something.

Yeah now that I think about it there was an article the other day that we were trying to trade Barbie. To bad we can't just cut him and keep Octavien. Maybe the Tuna will give us a ham sammich...

If I've said it once I've said it 100 times...but there is absolutely no reason to have 3 QBs on the 53 man roster. If you can get one late and PS him or something fine, but depth is always an issue and if we are down to our third quarterback, so be it, we are screwed anyways.

Dude blow it out your peace pipe. Kitna is older than the plague and getting a young QB to groom now is the way to go.

There are reasons to keep a third QB but on our team I'm not sure about it. I think in this league you should be developing a QB at all times. In fact I can make a pretty could case for keeping 4 QBs.

Unless JJ decides to spend more money on the QB issue and stick with them to develop them then perhaps we should keep two.

Yea, and if you can get him on the practice squad it's a good idea. But the fact is that if Romo goes down for any considerable time in the next 4-5 years or whatever, we are done. I have no problem signing a new vet backup every year for spot duty.
