53 Roster challenge

Dez out 4-8 weeks. He'll throw a fit if FO put him on designated for return IR, even though they should. Leary out 1-3 weeks. Gregory out 4 weeks. Need all the active DLs we can this week vs. Philly up tempo. Need to sign a WR to active roster. Then, Hardy and Ro back in 3 weeks. Going to be tough for FO to manage this roster the next month.

This is where I get hopeful. The very fact the Cowboys aren't (publicly) contemplating putting Dez on short term IR and freeing up a roster spot tells me that internally they believe the 4-6 week estimate.

Well, historically our FO's injury estimates have tended to be on the optimistic side.

The DFR-IR spot will be wasted if not used fairly early in the season.

Hardy should be back before Gregory is ready to return; therefore, I could see putting Gregory on the DFR-IR if he is definitely out for the next 3 weeks.

They need to be really careful with the Dez injury to prevent a recurring problem which has apparently happened to some other players with that injury.

I would wait until after the next game to sign another WR. There is not much time to get a new WR ready for this next game.

Jerry did publicly say that Dez might miss 8 weeks.
