"The Rams still fielded the fifth best offensive line in our time frame and easily the best this year. But much of the credit for the success of the running game should probably go not to Gurley, Anderson or the Rams offensive line, but to Sean McVay. The second-year coach has put his players in the very best position to succeed through his scheme and play-calling. Running the ball out of the 11 personnel helps dictate to the defense and lightens the box for his linemen, allowing them to open holes even thrice-cut journeyman running backs can run through."

I could not understand why the Cowboys didn't run from 11 personnel more often. Zeke is so good at waiting for openings to develop and there is so much more space out there with nickel personnel on the field and the S playing coverage.

Because Garrett thinks our offensive line could push back an M1 Abrams tank so there is zero need for scheme or play deception.

Before @Dre11 gets here coaches are as interchangeable as lightbulbs.

Our scheme is line up and we will physically beat you
That worked in the 90’s because we had the oline
It worked here when you had a dominate oline
It’s really a stupid scheme because it’s easier to out smart than out muscle

in a previous life, our startup worked with the #2 company in an exciting new technology field. things were great to start with, but the company was ran like a family company. what made it even worse was that the owners moved the company to a location where retention is good because there was little option for employment. unfortunately this also meant that they had little exposure to silicon valley except when customers visited. the minimal exposure to the rest of the world allowed them to be profitable but the company suffered from dead log syndrome. that is the cream leaves and the worst rise to the top. people who kissed butt got critical roles as the owners were too lazy to interview carefully and consider outside candidates. after 5 really profitable years, the company went from #2 to #5 and was forced out by 2 large established players who went into the field. it did not have to be...

Yep and once that oline starts to falter there is no backup plan. It's luducrous really.

Wouldnt that be smash mouth spread, the term thrown out last off season.....was just fan bait

All summer there was talk of possible smash mouth spread. Then we line up in 12 formation with an injured ol. We just need to execute....haha, great idea.

Dre tells us our coaching staff is plenty creative...lol...

We have enough talent to do better. Our oc play calls held us back. If they don't need to figure out defensive weaknesses and put our players in a better position to succeed then why even have an oc. You could hire a madden player. Coaching, adjusting schemes, play calling is what separates closely matched teams and close games.

Hopefully boy genius can do it . The bright side is we either get a hot young oc or the whole staff goes and I bet Jerry pays through the roof for Riley or Payton.

Wait, what?

I thought all coaches were basically the same and that it just comes down to execution from the players?

The players don't execute, none of it works. That's football 101. It doesn't matter if it's 11,12, 22,or 21.
