Good pick.

Overview
Richards is thick-hipped with good lower-body power fueling above average drive-blocking potential. He clears space when he’s centered into opponents, but he lacks the body control and hand consistency to do so on a regular basis. Pass protection concerns will be diminished with a move inside, but there will still be work needed when it comes to getting his feet in position to slow interior rushers. Richards’ drive blocking and potential position versatility give him a shot at a backup role with upside.
Strengths
  • Three-year starter.
  • Well-developed lower half.
  • Understands where to target hand placement.
  • Carves out space with drive-blocking power.
  • Climbs his combo blocks with adequate timing.
  • Fires heavy hands into pass rusher.
  • Makes proper adjustments against twisting fronts.
  • Play strength benefits him in scramble situations in protection.
Weaknesses
  • Below average body control.
  • Hasn’t learned to control and sustain his blocks.
  • Lacks athleticism to make all the blocks in space.
  • Heavy-legged getting around the corner when pulling.
  • Below average reactive athleticism in protection.
  • Fails to find proper footing to square up bull rushers.
  • Might not have slide quickness to protect outside edge.
I like thick hips and I cannot lie!

Like this pick. He played LT last season but also played guard at UNC.
Like most OTs, he's gonna have to slide to G in the NFL. Don't think his arm length is great for OT

If I’m the Cowboys.. It’s not what I want to do…

But

Tyron back to Left Tackle and Tyler back to LG.

We need our best 5 starting and Tyron is still elite when he plays.
What a disaster!!!!

Don't know much about him but they took him in the part of the draft where I prefer taking interior OL. You can find starters at this range of the draft. Will they be Pro Bowl/All-Pro players? Maybe not...but they already have Martin, whatever left of Tyron, and an emerging stud in Tyler Smith. When you're building a good OL, you can have 2-3 anchors who are your high paid/high draft picks and then you should be able to fill in the remaining spots with guys who can contribute.

I think people get too caught up in trying to build an OL with great individual talent at all 5 positions but it's really about having a good scheme and 5 guys who can work together to play well.
