6 new starters, how are we going to fill them?

As of today we have no starting or backup RB. I seriously doubt Jerry is going to trust an RB room with two rookies in the same backfield with Dak. Sure we can upgrade Dowdle with a rookie but that doesn't mean Dowdle has no value. My point is, whether it's Dowdle or not, we will sign a vet IMO.
Jerry didn’t trust Dowdle. He kept putting Zeke in the game when it mattered early and refused to give Dowdle the ball until the season was over. Sorry I just don’t count games that Dak missed. Our season was over when he went down against Atlanta. More importantly that 4 million dollar cap hit that you are going to take by resigning Dowdle would be better off at another position say defensive tackle, linebacker, defensive end, ect…..

Agree sign a vet for a minimum vet salary not the money that Dowdle will get. Running back is the easiest plug and play position in the league. The Cowboys can get away with two rookies.

Do Cowboys fans understand that you are going to have to pay Dowdle millions for him to stay. Dowdle’s production for under a million was good but a Dowdle at $4 million better give me more then two touchdowns. You can get two better backs then Dowdle in the draft for 1/2 the cost.
I understand this logic…but easier said than done. There were a lot of RBs the boards lied last year that were no where near as productive or efficient as Dowdle this year.

I’d much rather have at least 1 proven commodity in the room than counting on 2 rookies. We did that on the OL this year and it wasn’t pretty.

This…doesn’t have to be Dowlde but give me at least someone who is at his level.

They will bring in another veteran RB at their price range, which may or may not include Dowdle. I'm all for drafting multiple backs this yr in such a deep class.

My logic is we will suck next year no matter what. I would give Deuce a chance.

I will not get over that embarrassment of a coaching hire press conference. The stooges were in rare form. Some arrogant sons of bums.

Should have kept Tyron and let Tyler learn. Smith was worth to the Cowboys what the Jets paid him.

LoL…well yea if the plan is to tank let’s just let everyone walk and throw a bunch of rookies out there.

That’s fine…but it will be a downgrade at a cheap position which wouldn’t make much sense.

Until I see something different yes. Two rookies would outperform Dowdle. The Cowboys don’t trust your boy.

Until you see something different? We literally saw a boatload of rookie RBs last year that were drafted way ahead of Rico’s status that he outperformed.

I’m not sure what you mean…that’s my whole point. Just bc we draft a RB or 2 in the 3/4/5 doesn’t mean they’re automatically better.

Different with bringing in free agents. If we don’t use free agency we need to just pull the bandaid off and rebuild.

They refused to pay over 3 million last year where they could of signed a Zach Moss. Whomever they sign, will be more of a placeholder if the rookie or rookies struggle with the transition.

And Rico was significantly better than Miss this year.

I just don’t understand why they’d even consider going backwards at the position when his ask likely won’t be too crazy.

It’s more about why they allocate for the position. Certainly can pay more, but they have decided against it.
