On my way out, while driving in the car, I turned on WIP [sportstalk in Philly} and wanted to hear their views on the draft. Ha, ha they were mad. The hosts were Hugh Douglas and ex Cowboy linebacker Gary Cobb.
Gary Cobb: What are they thinking[Eagles], it is like a person has a slit wrist and is bleeding to death [meaning they needed dline, LB, and DB's} and while bleeding they go out and get a haircut[meaning, they didnt need a QB.} You would think the Eagles would be trying to go for the Superbowl but instead, well, I dont know what they're doing.
Hugh: I like to give the Eagles the benfit of the doubt here and see whats up their sleeve; however, how in the world do you trade with Dallas? Dallas!!!!!! Not only that, im looking at this guy Spencer and seeing everything the Eagles need. In addition, Im telling you G[Cobb] that boy can play. I played d end and that cat can ball. Hes out there throwing lineman around getting to the edge and to the quarterback. He looks like the real deal. G, im telling you that boy has game. Help me G, what were the Eagles thinking.
Cobb: I dont know Hugh, and what makes this worst is I played under Wade Phillps as my defensive coach and I can tell you one thing about him and that is hes going to bring the house on almost every play. Now, they got Spencer from one side and DeMarcus Ware from the other side, Donvanen is going to need to run for his life next season.
These were pretty close to word for word quote. I find Hugh's comments very interesting.
