My gawd this place has become as awesome as a Steve Jobs convention full of Apple fans eager to be baptized in a pool of iPads which are the most amazing tablet PCs ever. Now that our Cowboys have the next Jerry Rice, with amazing ball skills and rockin bod, we can all rest at ease. Good lawd it's an amazing acquisition that isn't being hyped enough.
Here are 7 reasons you need step on the gas with the Dez hype before you go all The Notebook on us with a soppy love story and cry about what could have been, instead of being awesome by dreaming of Dez and our suddenly unstoppable, 50 points-per-game offense.
1. 20 plus teams had the chance to draft Dez and said, no thanks. So he'll have plenty of motivation to tear those teams a new one each and every season
2. Dez's on the field production and skill backs up his work ethic especially in the gym. He'll perfectly fit in with our other gym rats on our team.
3. Dez doesn't have to battle back from mistrust with Romo and can build a report with his QB from scratch unlike a WR from Texas who dropped his way outta Romo's good graces.
4. Our owner is already anointing him the next great #88 by assigning Dez Bryant the playmaker's number. Woot them ole Bryant #88 jerseys are back in style!!
5. Today's passing offenses are those that are successful with multiple top flight receivers, something that the Cowboys lacked when relying on RW11 to come through. With Dez we add yet another top flight WR to add to Austin and Witten. We're sure to be one of the best passing teams in the league.
6. Bryant looks oddly familiar to Fitzgerald. In that he didn't run a blazing fast 40 time but has a great vertical and is just a plain ole' balla. The guy can play and snag balls outta the air that many WRs can't. He'll surely be a force to be reckoned with.
7. Rookie receivers--don't have any tape on them at the NFL level so it's harder for opposing teams to scout them. Much like Miles Austin, defenses won't be able to scout and prepare for Dez Bryant until midway through the season, which will allow him to gain some early confidence.
Compare:
Calvin Johnson's combine: 4.35 seconds... 6-foot-5 and 239 pounds. Great work ethic, great character. Rookie numbers, as a STARTER: 48 catches, 756 yards. Which is all we can really hope for from Dez Bryant, which 800 yard for a rookie to add to our top two threats would be divine.
Now...listen. I like the pick. Heck I love it. It was an extremely smart selection and worth the trade. So step on the pedal and let's all go to Dallas for a home Super Bowl game!
