That's an NFL arm.

Is there any chance we groom him to use as our backup 2-3 years down the line or is he just gonna be a Randel-El type guy.

how does this guy rank as a QB in college amongst the other guys who played QB and were Converted to WR?

In college as QBs where would you rank him .... Randle-El, Matt Jones, Crayton, Who else ?

I suggested he get some reps and be the emergency QB. Got an overwhelming response...not. He's supposed to have the arm but not the technique. Who knows what will happen....Romo...whatever. If his foot heals he may get to hold on snaps and get a few trick plays. He might be deadly on an option.

Unless that's him on the other end of the pass, I'm not really interested.

Remember how great Kordell Stewart was as Slash and remember what happened when he insisted/demanded play QB. He was out of football within 3 years after failing in Pittsburgh, in Chicago & forget whereas. He simply lacked accuracy.

As for how he matches up with Crayton, Stanbach has lot more speed then Crayton but don't know if his hands are as good as Crayton's. Because of his athletic abilities, Stanbach is also a better runner & it will be interesting to see if he can become a PR/KR. The big thing Stanbach has going for him is his great athletic ability -- plays football, good enough baseball player to be drafted by a baseball club even tho he hadn't played baseball since high school, track star & think he even played some basketball. When a player has that kind of talent combined with speed, Cowboys should be able to use him. If it turns out he's got bad hands & all else fails, maybe we can convert him to CB or FS. Quite a few college QBs often make it as WRs but some also are converted to CB in the NFL.

Frankly at first I thought this was a Jerry pick but just maybe Garrett has seen enough differing offenses schemes/plays to want to incorporate a Slash type player into our offense.

this is the reason why Stanback is projected to WR in the pros, he can only throw the long ball, he doesn't look good at all throwing short/intermediate stuff

I had a coach in 7th grade who claimed he could throw a football over 100 yds.

Of course, he was also an idiot.

I had a guy from Texas, that was one of a triplett, throw the ball over 100 yds. to me and my buddy one summer while we were all working for the same company. It was amazing! He kept telling us to run further. We thought he was out of his mind. No way, he would be able to throw over the heads of the two of us, we were both fast! Well, we laughed, knowing that we were too far for him already, but went on ahead and ran out to amuse the dude. Dang, he threw the ball, and we both turned and started running even faster! The ball went over our heads and went from one end of the parking lot were he stood to the other, which was well over 100 yds. We were blown away! I have never seen a arm that good in person, ever! My buddy and I took a look at each other, we both we completely flabberghasted. Never in our wildest dreams did we think someone could overthrow us, and this dude just out threw both of us at the same time. lol They say Drew pearson could throw it from one end of the field to the other don't know if that's right or not?
