They won't go away with just the presence of Cooper, Dak will have to show defenses that single covering him is not an option. The amount of players that team allocate to stopping the run has to do with how much they fear or not fear being beat with the passing game. You can have Hopkins, Evans and Brown as the wideouts but if Nathan Peterman is qbing they will all get single covered until Peterman proves he can beat them. This is still on Dak to make this work.

Yes. There’s reason to think Cooper has traits that will help Dak make this work. He’ll create a cushion that will allow Dak to feel more comfortable releasing the ball. He’s the anti-Dez.

I think they better get their pass pro in order too if this going to work.

True. But just to point out the difference Cooper CAN make...

That catch that Hurns made vs Washington when he inexplicably ran out of bounds with room to run, Cooper is taking that to the house. A slow inside LB is not runnng him down from behind or angling him out of bounds there. Cooper is different type of athlete, one we haven't had in Dallas since Dez before his 2015 knee injury. Plays like this change the way coordinators will choose to deploy their D.

Dak has held the ball longer and taken more sacks without Dez than with him.

Dak knew he could throw 50/50 balls to Dez without as much risk as Hurns and company.

I wouldn’t dispute that. But I don’t think Dez is his preferred type of receiver (he likes the opposite) because I don’t think he likes throwing 50/50 balls to anyone. He likes guys that get separation, which is why Beasley is his pet.

If Dak is the QB I think he is, he is going to take advantage of having Cooper on the field. No one respects Dak, I think everyone sees that because all the teams load the box daring him to beat them. Cooper changes that. Me being a Cooper fan and hearing Carr say that Cooper played with a bad foot for the entire season last year is good enough for me because I've seen him play. Another question is why did they trade him if he was so good. I ask you why did they trade Khalil Mack? Another question is why is he playing so bad this season ?, carr is a good qb. I read that when he was targeted more than 7 times he produced his two big games this year. Like Shannon Sharpe said you can expect a receiver to suddenly turn it on in the second half after he has only been targeted once in the first half. This sounds like a scheme or coaching change or problem. He hasn't suffered any major injuries, and he is a worker that was said even when he was at Alabama. So I don't know where it came from that he doesn't have any or not much desire to play. He's only 24 years old and will get better. Pro Bowls don't mean anything look at Vince young right. Quarterbacks are judged differently, sometimes it's wins and losses like when Dak made it. There were other qbs who could have got in but dak had the best record and Vince young that season got the Titans into the playoffs and set a qb rushing record which is huge even though he was an alternate. All other positions aren't like that so when you get in that means you are the cream of the crop for that season. You don't forget how to play football. Some of the best receivers of all time had seasons with high drop numbers but when you catch 75 plus balls per season who cares. He reached 1100 yards twice and that was with Michael crabtree on the other side with his 1000 plus yards and catches. If Michael crabtree didn't play on his team Cooper's numbers could have been much larger. The cowboys got a great player .

If Dak cain't make defenses pay for that now, he ain't our franchise QB.

Which brings me to the subject of who would be available next off season at QB.

Nick Foles has a mutual agreement for 2019 with the Eagles. I am not a contract guy, but does that mean Foles can walk as a FA if he does not agree to stay?

There isn't a list now, but surely there will be a competent QB that is better than Dak in the opinions of the people here who seem to know football (or think they do.)

Dak has 9 games to show this team he is worth keeping. He has a receiver who has shown great skill in the past. (Give me a break with his 2017 season. The Raiders have been nose diving for a while and Gruden is jettisoning the flotsum.

True! I hope they’re getting reps. We need success quickly to make them back off, so it’s on Linehan to scheme idiot proof plays.

Teddy Bridgewater will be available.

You will not see a box now. If we do great, because Cooper will toast them. Remember the Detroit game? Dak can throw more than a 5 yard pass.
