81's Take:

I've been reading plenty of threads on here after our loss yesterday. I'm what most will call a Grade A homer. So what, I'll wear it proudly.

I want to point out that Garrett is here now and next year at this time he will still be our HC. That's not changing anytime soon. For those that want him gone, who do you think our FO will replace him with? Do people really think changing the HC spot just automatically solves the problem? As much as most people hate Garrett the players play for the man and play hard. That's about the only attribute another coach would bring to this team if the perception of the owner is true in regards to his say in coaching decisions. You think a HIGHLY reputable coach will storm right through Valley Ranch under the conditions they'd have to take to be our HC? I like Garrett as a coach overall, but this season really has been a disappointment and IMO the adjustments during the game have been pivotal. Not only has Garrett failed this season, so has his coordinators .

Our offense couldn't succeed without Romo because of our scheme that calls for just about every play to develop past 3-5 seconds which puts unwarranted pressure on the Oline. It also doesn't help that on first down you will make it a point to run, allowing your 5 blockers to take on 7-8 defenders running right into them right at the snap. The use of Escobar baffles me since he does have solid hands and size to create mismatches. People will bash Escobar to no fault of his own. The only time I see Whitehead is when we run that predictable fake reverse run play that doesn't even fool my youngest. The only other time I see him on offense is when he's in as the lone WR and motions and stops behind the LG for a run play. We have weapons at our disposal but it's like we've managed to go to war with rocks and sticks when we have an artillery unit at our disposal.

On the defensive side our problems are mainly in our scheme as well. For one, RM loves a D1T on his back apparently. I'm taking a bigger issue with Carr playing off and giving a car's size worth of space. I don't blame QBs for picking his side. People scream for TOs on the defensive side, but if you continue to play soft in coverage and blitz only 3-4 rushers, there will be no pressure on the QB who can stay in rythym. For once can someone not named Jones please jump on a route? Who knows maybe you get a deflection which leads to an INT.

We have 5 games left and I do want to see a team that goes out and finds their way on the field. If they so happen to win, I'll be happy with that. I'm just not onboard with the tanking philosophy and anyone who competes would understand that. All games matter. Draft positioning can be over rated at times and who is to say a top 5, or 10 talent gives this team a boost? Who is to say that we get another MO type durable player in a top 5 scenario? Think about it. We got Dez 25 overall, Frederick 30, (if I'm not mistaken) while we got MO at 6. The only point I'm making is draft picks are unpredictable and you don't know how they pan out, so why invest in hoping that one will resurrect hope into our fanbase?

2016 will be upon us and I hate the fact that this season has turned out the way it has. I just hope we figure a way out to make some much needed adjustments going to next year and I hope our boys take this season as fuel to come out firing on all cylinders. Until then I'll cling on to the last fraction of hope we have and root on until the end.

We'll see if the players keep playing hard. I noticed a few plays taken off by several people even before Romo went back down.

Ijust wish we had better ollege scouts so we could us our picks to get people that can stay on the field and play. NE, Pitts, GB and other teams seems to be able to do this, but instead of moving up to ge a Luke Kuechly, we give up a 2nd to get Claiborne. We should have a pretty good pick this year regardless, and if we had a FO that knew what it was doing could greatly improve our team. Unfortunately, I'm not sure anything will change in 2016...

The last time we picked this high we ended up with a pretty good draft class in 2011.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

We have actually drafted very well the last 2-3 years. The front office has done a decent job drafting and signing free agents.

Because most of the time a top 5 pick gives you a shot at a top tier QB. And that is what we need. We need somebody that can learn behind Romo and take over some day. That's why some of us don't want to get those wins anymore for the rest of the season. I mean, I get all that winners don't lose on purpose thing but what do we gain by winning a couple of more games? We could really use that top spot in the draft and get us that QB for the future.

I agree. Every part of the draft is unpredictable, but you have a better chance when you draft high. And drafting a QB high improves your chances to nail one. Winning two or 3 more games proves nothing and helps nothing but stadium sales.

Yeah, but you can also land top QBs beyond the top 5. I like Lynch, Goff and Wentz like everyone else but if we're drafting top 5 I would like to see someone like Jalen Ramsey who can bolster our secondary and plays with the instincts at the safety spot we've been needing since Woody left. I've stated on other posts a Ramsey, Wentz combo would suffice for me as a 1-2 pick. In the end who knows what our front office will do. I'm hoping to hit in the draft prospect pool like we did last year.

Meaningless wins at the end of the season does nothing for us except try to make everyone think that this season wasn't as bad as it was.

Yeah, but as a coach your overall record gets flashed across the screen plenty of times and it follows you to your next job interview. Hypothetically if Garrett were to lose the last 5 games would people eliminate that when they bring up his record in Dallas since the losses helped the franchise get a high pick??
