I noticed this on the roster Chandler, Scott using 88

I hope we do not see this for 22 and 8 in the near future.

Any toughts or comments?

They might hand out retired numbers for TC but they get a different number for the season. As far as I know of 88 hasn't been retired.

It's not a first.

Too many camp bodies, not enough numbers.

For training camp we will see almost every number being issued, including 74, because with 80 guys in camp you only have a certain amount of numbers for various positions. You won't see 8 or 12 because we usually don't have that many QBs or kickers in camp but nearly all of the other positional numbers will be used.

Come the regular season they will be reissued new numbers if they make the final roster so don't fret about it too much.

I freaked out the first time I saw some scrub wearing #74 in a preseason game but by the time the cuts were made he got a new number (66 I believe) and it was all good.

We don't have any "retired" numbers but there are a few that the equipment guys don't issue for the regular season:

74, 12, 8, & 22.

88 has been used a number of times since Irvin retired so I don't think it is held in the same light as the others on that list. Jackie Harris wore it as did Antonio Bryant I believe.

Antonio Bryant wore 88 for us. He honored the jersey # by tossing it into Bill's face.

Makes sense.. and yes 88 is well... I guess not as important as 74 12 22 and 8

My question is... Bob hays 22.. why did Emmit took that number?

Do you think that we will ever see those numbers used again? that is 74 12 22 and 8

I don't think those 4 numbers will ever be used again in the regular season.

I hope not... thing is 22 was used by 2... so i guess Emmit finally sealed it right?

Watching 4th and Long, I think an old 88 looks in good shape and should suit up!

Exactly.

RB/QB positon. They don't have as any spots tied up.

TE/WR, if you have 5 or 6 WR's and 3 TE's you usally need those numbers.

Maybe it changes in the near future because some WR's are using lower numbers now (Roy as 11, Austin as 19).

How dare they disrespect the immortal Ron Sellers.
