9 men in the Box

I recall seeing several obvious running downs where the skins would place 9 men in the box. I recall them running this defense against the Vikes also. With no TO and no healthy Glenn, Greg Williams could get away with this. How many people on this board think this Def will work against the Seahawks? With a healthy TO and hopefully a healthy Glenn, I'm sure Romo is chomping at the bit to play the skins again.

I truly think this is one of the reasons for our poor rushing performance. Couple that with no Gurode and that explains a bit more. Add in the uninspired performance and you get the one-sided game. I hate the loss more than anyone else, I live here in the enemy's back yard, but I going to see the forest and not the tree. The forest is, I highly doubt the skins could duplicate their defensive effort again. The would be crazy to go 9 in the box against the Hawks or against us (if they get buy the Hawks).

They run some 46 type looks which is what you saw. They also drop out late into other coverages from that set too, so it's not always a run stuffer.

That has been the most interesting part of our defense the last two weeks. Seeing Landry run back 20 yards right before the ball is snapped. I'd be tired before the play even begins.

So your saying that their two remaining defensive backs covered our 3 or 4 receivers so well that we couldn't get the ball to anyone? Unbelievable! I was absolutely disgusted with our play yesterday and for the last few weeks to tell the truth. We better play a whole lot better or this season has been for nothing and shows that our offense (ala Jason Garrett) wasn't as good as everyone thought. Sigh.... sorry, just my random rant. :bang2:

Now people are blaming jason garret?

Wow. The team has been gearing towards january 13th.

Anyone who gives a darn what happened yesterday needs to go out and enjoy the new year and forget about it.

I agree. TO changes the whole dynamic and makes it a game where its more about trying to limit your offense reasonably. Game plan has to be completely different when he's in there.

And when the game is not played in rainy, sloppy conditions, and at home with something to really play hard for.

IMO the Cowboys just wanted to go, get the hell out, and get ready for something special.

That game last night was like someone eating at Outback Steakhouse and then going directly to McDonalds for something else to eat. Just not hungry for anymore.

Exactly. You didn't want to go to war yesterday. I have no doubts that on the 13th you will.

That being said, I think your guys know they will have a battle if they face us.

I don't like your team. But they did what they had to do. In the papers here in DC/Northen VA/Suburaban MD, Gibbs is being quoted that yesterday was the biggest game since his return. Dallas was flat, the skins were amped and couple that with an agressive Def scheme, we saw the results. The skins are in the unenviable task of having higher expectations placed upon them. We all know that what you guys did the last two weeks, will not work against the Hawks. As a football fan, I'm very curious as to how Williams will attack the Hawks. Even though Dallas lost (which I hate), no Def Coordinator will know what to expect with TO and Glenn on the field at the same time with Garret calling the playss.

We didn't

Some of our backups played like backups.

We lost a meaningless game.

First things first, HogBreath! While your team is traveling the roads, the Cowboys are at home resting.

Let's talk IF when the time is appropriate...

I agree. We have done well against you guys in the first half of the first game, against Philly (except for the last quarter of the second game), Detroit, and GB.

Yet we also were shredded in the second half of the first game, and by NE.

Soft cover 2 won't work and neither will the scheme used yesterday. The only guy who really had an effective scheme for you guys and executed it for an entire game was Jim Johnson.

I really want to play you even if we lose. If TO isn't able to play you have to say that's neutralized by the fact we are missing our best safety, a solid starting LB, and 2 members of our offensive line. May the best team win if the game comes to fruition.

Are we givin' away free stuff to the skins fans that post over here?

OK, OK. You guys had your superbowl. You won, pick up all the marbles.

Please STOP with the late season, grasping at straws with little hope of anything, chest thumping.

You guys have a crap record due to you played as such, are a 6th seed and couldn't bring yourselves to play real football 'til one of your teammates passed away. That's pitiful. Shows a ton of respect for the coaching staff, huh? Great TEAM you got there.

I love all the irony of those saying Pats were crazy going all out to win yet are all sky is falling after we gave away a meaningless game.
