1. Rank the linemen
2. Would you trade Felix for Chris Johnson?
3. 1st round priority -FS, WR, or OL?
4. Only for the anti-Romo's- Chad Pennington should be available next year. Want the bus driver w/ multiple shoulder surgeries?
5. Who have you underrated?
6. Overrated?
7. Re-sign Spears @ 4 years $25M?
8. 1 player to look out for?
9. Broncos game?......
1. Adams is the best. Best run blocker. Best pass blocker. Only guy on the line that deserves the Pro Bowl. He just dominated Peppers, and played well against the Giants. Much tougher than playing well against the decimated internal line of Carolina. I'll consider ranking the others later. I also thought the line had a good (not great) run blocking game against Carolina, and generally, a bad pass blocking game (other than Adams). I also want to see how these guys handle Haynesworth a coupla games.
Most of our yardage is coming on draws--not lining up and running off tackle. Also, our line is not powerful in short yardage and goal line situations. Garrett is taking a lot of heat for not running from the one (twice). Simply put, he just doesn't trust the OL to get movement. And he's tried before in short yardage situations, plenty of times. That lack of trust was earned, not given.
Last year, IIRC, we only scored 11 rushing touchdowns, and 3 came from outside the 10. Compare that to the 90s, when Emmit alone would have 20+ TDs.
2. No.
3. Best value overall, hopefully at WR, then at OL. Our WRs aren't very good.
Our OL, as a group is average. IMO, they tend to be over-rated by this board, and are inconsistent. Sometimes good, really good even, and sometimes not very good. They also tend to be penalty-prone, and make too many mental errors.
4. I'm completely pro-Romo, but a few comments. I like Kitna, but if something happens to Romo, our offense is gonna have real problems (they already have problems, but they will get worse). Romo makes our entire offense look better. He makes the OL look better by being elusive, scrambling toward the line when protection breaks down, and buying time. He did a lot of that Monday night, and it helped. Not a lot of QBs bring that kind of help. He helps the WRs the same way. Our WRs have trouble getting open in 3.5 seconds or less. They do it occasionally, but not often.
He helps the running game with his play fakes on draws. He regularly froze the LBs for an extra step on the draws, and enabled much bigger runs by Felix Jones. While Jones is exceptional, that extra step helps a lot.
5. As a group, I've underrated our run-blocking. They have performed decently well--really well on draws.
6. Spencer. I thought he would be good. He's been decent, but not as good as I thought. I still have hopes, and expectations, that he will be good.
7. Marginal call. I like Bowen as much--and much better against the pass. If Bowen is cheaper, I would go with Bowen, and put the money somewhere else.
8. Miles Austin. I think he becomes a starter before too much longer--if not he should. He is the only other explosive player on offense besides Felix Jones.
9. Win.
