I challenge all to come up with a better draft class at one position than the "96 WRS class....

As discussed several times before I agree this is the best in NFL history IMO. Close is 1988 with

Tim Brown
Sterling Sharpe
Michael Irvin
Anthony Miller
Aaron Cox
Wendell Davis
Flipper Anderson
Brian Blades
Brett Perriman.

Tim Brown and Irvin were the only ones in 88 with great careers. Sharpe's career ended too early.

I don't agree with this at all. In 7 NFL seasons, he was the most productive WR there was. This, in a time frame that boasted Irvin, Brown and Rice to name just three.

I think Sharpe should be included as well. Flipper Anderson had some great years with the Rams and Miller was very good for a little while with the Chargers.

Still, the 1996 class was better I think.

I think the QB Class of 83 was better.

Elway
Blackledge
Kelly
Eason
O'Brien
Marino
Laufenberg
Kubiak
Ramsey

Truly a great group of players. I only ask why, why, why! Why did Dallas not draft any one of these players? Keyshawn was #1, but there were others that dropped and could have been drafted. But no, they just had to have Kavika Pittman.

I agree, Sharpe was great in his 7 seasons. But, longevity is key to making a great NFL career.

When Terrell Davis was good, he was amazing, but he'll never sniff the hall, and never be mentioned as a great RB because his career was just too short.

Possibly but I don't know that I can agree with you. Gayle Sayers had a short career but in those few seasons that he was right, he was more right then any RB maybe ever. Earl Campbell didn't have a real long career either but I'd take Earl Campbell over any RB, any place, any time. Bo Jackson didn't have a long career but can anybody say that he was not one of the all time great RBs?

I think longevity is important but I think there are cases where circumstances can be ammended to recognize greatness in a shorter time frame.

Class of 88 has been to the SB 4 times won 3 the Class of 96 has been twicw won 1. We can talk production as individual all you want but the team production comes 1st.

With that logic Class of 88 is the winner, after all this is a team sport.

Weren't Glenn, Owens, Toomer and Muhammad all in the Super Bowl, along with Johnson's win?

That would make five appearances and one win.

Not sure where you're getting two appearances from.

Not trying to be mean but first off your facts are wrong, and second of all we're comparing draft classes of individual players, not teams, so it doesnt matter what the teams did. We're talking about the '96 class of wide receivers. Individually they are better than any other WR class ever.

Just curious, but how would you guys and gals rank the receivers from the '96class from first to last?

My list (based merely on gut feeling not by reviewing stats) would read:

1) Marvin Harrision (great route runner, consistent, not a burner but can get deep)
2) T.O. (playmaker, great RAC, head case, has lapses where he drops easy balls)
3) Eric Moulds (tough, playmaker, not a burner but can get deep)
4) Joe Horn (playmaker, can run all routes, has mental lapses)
5) Mushin Muhammad (tough, was Steve Smith in Carolina before Steve Smith, not a burner but can get deep)
6) Amani Toomer (playmaker, not a burner but can get deep)
7) Keyshawn Johnson (tough, good hands, slow)
8) Terry Glenn (great speed, very good hands, oft injured)
9) Eddie Kenninson (very good speed, never lived up to hype)

I would go (granted, my list is heavily stat-based):

1. Marvin Harrison
2. Terrell Owens
3. Keyshawn Johnson
4. Muhsin Muhammad
5. Eric Moulds
6. Joe Horn
7. Amani Toomer
8. Terry Glenn
9. Eddie Kennison

Nice.

Can't disagree too much especially based on stats. Key has nice stats because of his consistency but I don't think I'd pick him over Moulds or Horn if I need a #1 WR. Key, Toomer and Muhammad are a push but Muhammad and Toomer have more big play potential that's why I ranked them higher than Key.
