What are they doing down there?

Besides slow moving farm animals ya mean? :p:

The Gator fans would of gotten a real kick out of this saturday, had they not taken it down. Talk about a real humble way to introduce yourselves to your new "neighbors".

Rumor is that T-Sippers are responsible for that one... wouldn't surprise me. The back and forth will never end between those two...

I found this on Wiki in regards to the national championships:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_aggie_football#National_championships_.283.29

Until 2012 Texas A&M claimed just one national title, voted No. 1 by the AP Poll shortly after its inception along with No. 1 in 8 of the 12 other major polls, after the 1939 season. Southern California also claim this title through the Dickinson System;[6] however, this was the only poll that year in which USC finished No. 1.[7][8] In 2012, Texas A&M added claims to two additional national championships.[9][10] The 1919 team finished 10–0–0 and unscored upon, earning a retroactive national title by ten selectors, including the Billingsley Report and National Championship Foundation.[11][12] The 1927 team finished 8–0–1, with a tie against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, earning a retroactive national title by the Sagarin Rating and the Sagarin ELO-Chess.[13]
Additionally, the 1917 team finished 8–0–0 and unscored upon, earning a retroactive national title by 1st-N-Goal and James Howell, but Texas A&M does not claim this as a national championship

I dont know how they would claim the conference titles though. In 97 Nebraska won it, OU won in 2010.

No truth to that rumor. An Aggie falsification of the facts more likely.

Yeh, A&M had nothing to do with that. A public records request by the school revealed that the billboard was purchased by a private party in Austin, Texas.

Pretty clear that it's a group of Texas fans trying to make A&M look bad.

OK, I'm willing to be convinced. Do you have a link that provides proof of this?

A link to the request and a picture of the contract was going around Texags and Shaggybevo the other day, but it appears the owners of both sites have since deleted all of it. I'm assuming nobody wants to be implicated, seeing as A&M's AD is looking to pursue legal action for copyright infringement if they discover who it is.

Jason Cook is the one who confirmed that A&M made a public records request, though.

Regardless of who did it, it's very clear A&M did not because our athletic department is pissed.

I don't doubt the university itself had nothing to do with it, but let's be realistic, tamu needs NO help from anyone to make itself look silly.

After all, there were/are similar billboards here in the metroplex and Austin touting "This is SEC Country" with a big 'ol Texas A&M logos all over 'em.

Funny sign

Overall though, I think Texas A&M comes in 4th in academics in the SEC.
Also, I bet Vandy runs a pretty clean program ;)

I know, all in good fun.....

1917? Wasn't there a World War going on? Seems like a military school would have had better things to do.

Some of the aggy fans have started to visit a WVU forum I read. So some fans of big 12 teams (current teams) have been sharing some stories of aggy. I thought some of the stuff I read here was bad, but this is a family friendly board so I was not getting all of the twisted things that are aggy "traditions".

I don't know that I have seen a worse case of "big brother" envy than aggy has for the longhorns. Will they change the school song now lol. I also don't think I have heard as many strange traditions or weird logic for a team or school to prop itself up while making itself look foolish doing so.

Really bizarre for those that have not been around that stuff.

What is an "aggy"?

90% of the goofy **** you'll hear about hasnt gone on in over half a century. Outside of various corps schenanigans, most of the really out there stuff went out the window with the military requirement.

And no, we won't change our song anymore than Texas will.

My favorite aggie story was when some corp cadets attempted to steal the Baylor Bear live mascot in the mid 80s, a live black bear, he was friendly so they got him in the backseat...then it remembered he was a bear and went to town on the upholstery, they were fortunate he did not reach their heads.

They were caught because they had borrowed someone's station wagon and when they took the car in to be reupholstered they were turned in.:D

But I neglected the horrific part of the story, when they returned the bear they had tied it to a tree and run off, and the bear ended up hanging itself struggling to get free. thus a huge legal stink and why the pranksters were turned in and prosecuted.:(
