A closer look at what Jaydon Blue is and isn't

He could be an every down back for all we know. UT has been so loaded at RB it’s hard to determine without seeing him yet.
He could be but you don't want to start him that way you want to use him like Tony Pollard 1st 3 years here pre injury he was more effective being the change of pace guy that you're not hammering him up inside all game as a three down back he's not that guy...

Neither was Alvin Kamara/ Reggie Bush you know to go along with Tony Pollard /they're not gadget player/s but they also need to be utilized properly to get the most out of them and yes he has a lot of mileage left on him and I think he's going to be a lot better than people think he definitely has an NFL body this is not a small guy that you're worried about like deuce f, this is not lucky Whitehead this is not jet sweep guy...

Yet you still need to work his way into the NFL with the right RBC I think he's going to be better than people imagine..

He ran a 4.38 at the combine. At 196 lbs.
Zeke ran a 4.44 at 225.

Thats a quarter blink difference.

Lets just see if this 5th round pick even gets playing time, let alone makes any significant contribution.
That's a mile of difference in the 40.

I agree with you. But he fell to the 5th round because he is not an every down option. The Cowboys have not had a back this fast in a very long time. Even if he only gets about seven to 12 touches per game he can produce the chunk plays out of the backfield this offense really needs.

Not saying he is going to be Dallas' next great back, but he's going to be a weapon. Personally I think Javonte Williams is going to rebound two years removed from his ACL and be the top option, but Blue is intriguing.
From what I saw he was rated as a late rounder/UFA. Speed got him drafted earlier. I love the pick as a comp back/speed threat type. Hope we understand that.

Not a slight at all. Its why Zeke was a top 10 pick and instant contributor.

There are also reasons why Blue was a 5th round pick and should be looked at as a bonus if hes even active on game days and gives us a few plays somewhere.

The annoiting from fans is ridiculous.
Anyone who uses the terms, “annoit”, “annoiting”, or “annoiting oil” in relation to football is an unoriginal npc and deserves to have all their opinions disregarded.

So next year we might have a RB? This year, not so much.
We will have much better RBs this season.

True, we do not seem to have a Pro Bowl level RB but they will be far more productive in meaningful circumstances such as scoring.

The Cowboys ranked dead last in running TD's last season. Nowhere to go but up.

His Sophomore year he was behind Jonathon Brooks and CJ Baxter so his opportunities were severely limited.

His Junior year could have been his breakout year, especially with CJ Baxter's season ending injury, but he never really grabbed the opportunity. The OL wasn't great at run blocking and the run game often sputtered so the starting RB bounced around between Blue, Wisner and Gibson.. whoever had the hot hand.

Blue doesn't look like a RB who is primed to take on a starting NFL role, but you never know with the right team and line he might explode.

I guess, if the bar is to just be as good as THE Rico Dowdle and not be last in rushing TDs.

Baby steps.

Sounds like Blue is replacing Deuce. A part time gadget player. And people on here were immediately comparing him to Gibbs in Detroit. :lmao:

Super important for a RB to run a good route. Usually not the first look....so after a scan...the QB can dump it off easier if he knows where rb is.
Zeke made so nice plays on dump offs. But blue in space can be a big play. But he could also line up on LOS and run routes. He’s about as polished a route runner as I’ve seen at RB. I’ve seen WR coming out of college with less route running skills. But just get guys like him and Turpin the ball in space and they can do things. With 2 legit WR out in routes, the underneath stuff is gonna be a LB or safety in coverage and those guys can eat them up in the open field . If we stay healthy and oline plays just a bit better than last year, this offende can be really good. A realky good offende helps the defense

One huge mistake last year was having Zeke out there so much early in the year. As for TD’s we shot ourselves in the foot way too much in the redzone. Penalties in the redzone took the run out of a lot of drives. Got to get the excision fixed in the redzone
