I don't think you can look at the results of one game and decide whether a coach should stay or go. I'm not even sure you can look at one season or wins and losses and make a definitive decision based solely on that.

I know the players had a huge part in the loss yesterday, but it is very arguable that if the coaching (including play calling) had been better, it is very likely that we would have notched another "W" yesterday. Which leads me to my coaching barometer .....

How many games do you feel like we have lost during the past two years due to coaching (including poor play calling). Icing our own kicker comes to mind. The Detroit game this year comes to mind. Green Bay yesterday still stings. What about poor clock management issues over the past few years?

Now ask yourself how many games can you point to and say ...."Good coaching probably allowed us to win that game that we probably shouldn't have won"
.

In the past two years I cant recall ANY games that fall into the second category. But it is pretty easy to recall a couple from this year in the first category.

I'm on the fence about Garrett. I think he may yet turn out to be a good/great coach. In spite of the poor play calling the clock management yesterday was better because we let them score and there was enough time left to have a reasonable chance of coming back and winning it.

But the offensive play calling is ATROCIOUS as it pertains to getting in the flow of the game. Someone (or everyone) needs to be held accountable for that. Personally I would GET RID OF CALLAHAN as the play caller. He is like poison to this offense.

It is hard for me to tell if Kiffen's time has passed or if he really doesn't have enough healthy guys with talent to get anything done this year. Either is possible. But Moore played pretty well yesterday off the street. we have had some success bringing in NO NAME DL and getting decent production from them.

It's a good philosophy but no one ever, ever remembers good coaching moves. I think most people here would struggle to name one good coaching move Garrett has made over three seasons, even though that's ridiculous. Probably why it's best just to stand on wins and losses.

To me you can't blame both the Detroit and the Green Bay games on coaching. One was a passive attack of clock management and they blew the game in epic fashion. The other was an aggressive attack of clock management and they blew that game in epic fashion too. But you can only pick one of the two as far as an attack on strategy, unless the idea is if they lose it is bad coaching either way.

I think we played pretty good ball against the rams and the giants this year. Those are the only 2 games that come to mind where coaching and scheming worked out in our favor.
