Well I finally got to see the Mecca. I took my wife and son to the place I will probably never see again, unless I get tickets from a buddy, etc.
I know many have done the tour and reported back, so if some of these are the same...oh well.
First of it's not $15 for adults. It was around $17. The girl said Arlington had to put there taxes on.
When we first got there we had to wait in the Pro Shop line to buy a ticket. Then in another line for the tour...it wasn't that bad though, even with a 1 yr old about 1hr. Except the fact that the credit card machine went down. So they had to escort 5-6 of us who didn't have cash to the stadium concourse to an ATM. Pretty cool because I got to see the stadium without paying, and they had the jumbo/mammoth tv on.
Alright, finally get in...and here are my observations:
I never thought I would say this...but the TV is too damn big! It's almost annoying. If you are on the second level it will be right in your face! It's awesome, but it would be cool if were like 100yds away from your seats. **Cool little tidbit....the Mitsubishi letters under it are 5ft tall! I coundn't see myself watching the field with that monster in my face. It's almost like when you go to the stadium style churches these days and they have the jumbotrons...you end up watching that the whole time...I would just assume watch it at home in leisure on my own jumbotron.
The glass on the outside is beautiful...also they have granite everywhere with blue flecks that sparkle.
The pressbox is pretty sweet...makes u wish you were a writer...suite is off to the right corner.
Guiness book of World Records set for 3,000 plasma tvs...all Sony btw. Even the menus at the conscession are Plasma's.
The locker room was ok...it was finished...lockers were heavyduty, but it seemed small....they only had about 6 toilets, 3 urinals, and maybe 8 showereheads. I guess I was expecting Mark Cuban style....they do have blue neon lights on the ceiling though that are pretty cool.
Most of the players will park inside in the tunnel...yes they have a parking lot...and the visiting team bus will go in the tunnel and get dropped off right at the locker room...I don't like that idea...the fans should be able to razz the players when they get off aka in Philly!
Jerry's private elevator comes straight from the field almost red carpet like to his suite...it has stainless steel subway tiles going veritcal all the way up...I was expecting either God to get off, or the Devil...I wasn't sure!!
You probably already knew this, but the Jumbotron cost $40mil...TX Satdium cost $35mil......that just sounds crazy doesn't it?
All in all a good time....but it would have been better to see the field. Maybe I had my expectations raised too high from all the hoopla, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be...don't get me wrong it's awesome and gorgeous...I just had this vision from all the reports. I do know one thing...I can't wait to see the boys playing in that bad boy in few short weeks!
