Which one is a Heisman hopeful?

Quarterback A:

Team is 8-1 with a couple of dramatic comebacks.
147 completions
217 attempts
67.7%
1705 yards
24 TDs
4 INTs
166.6 Rating

Quarterback B:

Team is 7-1 with a couple of dramatic comebacks.
193 completions
303 attempts
63.7%
2233 yards
21 TDs
4 INTs
145.9 Rating

I don't think either is going to win the Heisman or deserves to this season. I just saw their stats this weekend and thought they were very similar. The difference was how they were covered. Nothing new, just a reinforcement in how teams and players are covered and how the Heisman is more a popularity contest than true reward for on field performance.

Let me guess, A is Colt McCoy of Texas, B is Brady Quinn of Notre Dame.

Of course it is McCoy and Quinn. I was a little surpised that statistically they were so close to each other at this point in the season. They are in completely different situations with different expectations. I guess it stuck out because Quinn is still being touted as a Heisman frontrunner. At least that was the snippet I saw over the weekend. So far, this is a poor year for the Heisman.

Yes, it is a poor year for the heisman. Troy Smith has a lock on it. There is not any competition this year. Peterson's injury, and Quinn looking terrible vs Michigan ended any drama.

Frehsmen rarely get Heisman hype. Colt will get his dues as time goes on. The voters pre set in their minds which Juniors and Seniors are the best candidates and they rarely budge from those candidates unless a huge shove is made. Just the politics of the award.

Hey Hos, I haven't watched any Notre Dame football, can you catch me up as to why Quinn is so beloved, I've heard mixed things and have seen the scores in Notre Dame games and am wondering if he is a media darling or true grit. I honestly haven't seen him play so i can't say.

He's the real thing. He really made a monumental leap forward last year as Notre Dame sort of returned to respectability under Weis. Grasped the offense very well and just made it his.

His best asset is tenacity. He simply doesn't give up. ND gets down and he brings them right back. Then once he has them down he doesn't let up. Definitely has the best grit of a QB coming out I've seen in a while.

His intangibles are all very good and his progressions on reads may be his strong point. Sees the whole field and uses it.

Weis is the guy who made Brady what he is. If he says this kid has "it" then people should pay attention to him over me. You will not find a scouting service anywhere who doesn't think he's the best QB in the nation and though they miss on players just like we all do, they aren't always wrong.

Some guys they label as can't miss are in such huge programs that they never have to do much to win. This kid is almost always the catalyst of a ND win. That says a lot to me about the kind of heart he displays.

I am not expecting McCoy to get Heisman consideration. I don't think he deserves it. He is having a good year, but it doesn't look special to me. Better than I expected, but he is also surrounded by a pretty good offnes. I just don't think Quinn deserves to get Heisman support for this season. He is not living up to the expectations, which were pretty lofty. He is not having what I consider to be a Heisman like year. It is just based on the hype coming in. If he can't produce better than a redshirt freshman, why is he still considered a top candidate? I do know the answer. Just asking out loud.

I think Quinn deserves to be where he is, in the top 5. I think Troy Smith is probably the frontrunner at this point and rightly so. Had he not got hurt Adrian Peterson was my winner.
