Not all of them will go, of course, and we have no idea how many the
Boys will ultimately send over... I just think the bulk of the assignees
are likely to come from this list:

QB-- Drew Henson, Dustin Long... we've all heard the Henson to NFLE
rumors, and if memory serves the Boys signed Long back in August to a
contract with an eye toward sending him over... that may all be out the
window if Henson does go over, of course...

WR-- Tom Crowder, Jamaica Rector, JR Tolver... I've read rumors about
the Boys sending Crowder over... Rector might also be sent over to get
his feet wet at cornerback, where he apparently practiced some during
this past season...

TE-- Tony Curtis

OL-- Matt Tarullo, Corey Procter, Shannon Snell

DE-- Vontrell Jamison, Junior Glymph

CB-- Byron Parker

Of this group, I'm most intrigued by Henson, Crowder, Rector, Long and
Tarullo...

Comments??

I always thought the NFL should have anyone signed to practice squads - auto to Europe.

Plus up to 3 additional players from the regular roster.

Well, let's see-- there are 8 man practice squads these days, that's 256 players... 3 from the 53 man roster would be 96 more players... that's 352 players...

NFL Europe has 6 teams... that's 58.7 players per team... doesn't leave a lot of room for foreign nationals, or returning players from the previous year's team, does it?? Particularly not when, if memory serves, NFLE teams have a 45 man roster limit...

A nice thought, but unless the league went to 12 teams, rather unworkable in the real world...

Automatically go to Europe? A lot of these guys aren't mature enough to handle being in another country. Plus is would be a serious hardship for those players with families. Don't be silly.

No we haven't signed Long to a contract. The Boys did bring him in for a follow up work out in December but nothing happened with it. I don't think we signed him to a future contract and I can't find anything on it.

I'd like to see Reeves go to NFLE this year as well. I thnk the extra playing time would help him a lot. He looked good at times this year and I think the extra playing time would benefit him and the boys....

good list -- i'd throw curtis in the mix too. no reason why Henson and Long both can't go.

Since Henson would be a major draw for NFLE (like Hutch was), I expect that Jerry would be able to influence NFLE to let Henson play on a team with Rector and Crowder (at the least).

Am I the only one who has noticed that NFLE isn't exactly as "European" as it used to be? Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Rhein, and Amsterdam? What happened to Barcelona, London, and Scottland? Why remove all the locations where people might actually want to go?

Doubt that Reeves -- with 30 some games of NFL experience is eligible. A guy like that isn't going to learn anything playing in Europe. The game is just too slow -- he'd dominate -- yes, he would -- the level of play is that bad.

Funny though as the league eliminated those cities, the quality of play dropped off and you aren't seeing the success stories of the past.

If I'm a player, I'd be psyched to live in Barcelona for a few months. But Cologne -- why bother?

I agree here. Better to let him sit in the film room this off-season and learn from his mistakes on the field this year.

I'm a little surprised they are sending Crowder? I figured he would be better served staying in town this offseason to learn the scheme a little better and work on fundamentals.

I'm all for sending Henson over. No way he's going to get better than Romo sitting in town all summer.

I would have sworn that I read we did, but I've been wrong before...

Once...

I'd like to see Reeves go to NFLE this year as well.

I just don't think you send over guys who have carved out a niche on the roster already, and I believe Reeves has... NFL Europe could be about getting raw players seasoning, but the truth is it's more about players proving they deserve a roster spot in the first place...

First the team hasn't announced who's going this is all speculation.

Second the best way to learn from your mistakes is to play not sit in a film room that will only help so much. Playing time is what our young players need and that's what NFLE is for.

I don't know what the eligibility requirements are for NFLE, and whether or not he is eligible. I think he is I think it's the number of years if anything heck it may be just who the team sends and have nothing to do with time or games played.

If anyone knows please post the requirements with a link.

Well, there's only really 12 quarterback jobs available each year, and a number of teams that would like to get some of their young QBs some playing time, too...

Attendance... they go to NFLE games in Germany, not so much in those other countries... it's too bad, really, I was a fan of the Claymores...

I will be getting season tickets if Henson comes over...:D

Hey Larry..I think you may find that Tarullo maybe our center...he is from syracuse and his former HC is with our staff he was kinda small for guard but maybe just fine for Center...but he really needs strength work I think more than anything else...but Jamison, Glymph might be good canidates but I think LB's and secondary players are the most likely

I'm sure each team takes more than 1 QB.
No reason Long couldn't go as a backup.

Playing in NFLE is a privelidge to most of these guys who do not have long term NFL contracts and can use the film.

I wish the NFL would designate teams with ties to like 4 NFL groups and each group sent 5 to 8 guys then filled the rest with foreign nationals. I'd only allow guys to go who had team affiliations or local ties to that team.

They do... many if not most teams rotate two QBs throughout the game... however, there's only 6 teams in the league... that's why I said realistically, there's at most 12 QBs who will get any real playing time in NFL Europe in any given season, probably fewer...

Yeah, he could factor in at center... I don't know if 316 pounds is small for guard, though... in fact, he might be too TALL for center, at 6-6...

Yeah I don't agree with this at all. The NFLE game is not nearly as fast and the level of play is not on par with that of the NFL. I think players can regress by playing there if they have already proceeded to a higher level. Reeves did well in limited time. Certainly PT will help him further, but I don't think he has as much to gain in NFLE as he has to loose in not having an off-season and possible injuring himself.

Don't forget that NFLE players have only a couple of weeks after the end of their season before they have to start camps for the NFL season.

Can't find the requirements anywhere.

However, simple logic tells us that players with signficant game experience just aren't eligible. You look at all the "stars" of NFLE last year and you won't find any with more than a handful of games played. It is a developmental league for college FA's and guys who might be on an NFL roster but not playing.

Whatever the requirements you can be sure Reeves, with 31 games played isn't eligible
