Here's the scenario. The Cowboys trade down from 12 and acquire another 2nd round pick. With their 1st and their own 2nd they've addressed the two areas you wanted them to address most. With the 2nd round pick they acquired in the trade they select Jalen Milroe QB Alabama.

How are you feeling?

Keep in mind they supposedly were strongly considering Jalen Hurts in the 2nd that year. I don't see this as completely out of left field.

For the record.........I'm one of the few posters who believe Milroe has a chance with the team and coaching but a 2nd rounder is too high.

Spoke with an NFL assistant GM about Alabama QB Jalen Milroe: “He’s one of the most intriguing guys in the entire draft. There’s a narrative that he’s just a running quarterback, but that’s way off...

His deep ball can be a major weapon at the next level. I’ve watched him a lot — he’s very capable in the pocket and carves up zone defenses well. There’s a lot to work with, and I like the kid.”

Melrose is probably the most talented quarterback in the draft. Not as good as Lamar but you would have to tailer the team around him like the Ravens did for Jackson. He would be an excellent change of pace quarterback if used right.

There still people in the FO and fans clinging to the Dak pipe dream. 10 years in his ceiling is division round at best. As bad I want to move on, Milroe is everything you want below the neck. But if he comes here I have visions of Anthony Richardson 2.0. I have a feeling that he only pans out with an elite HC like Reid or McVay. Nope Milroe would be another in a long line 2nd rounders flushed by this FO.

I wouldn't like it. We just burned a 4th on a different version of Milroe in Lance, and let him walk cause we didn't know what to do with him (also he couldn't play).

I'd rather burn that extra 2 on OL--a position no one really wants to invest in, again, but that can still benefit from an upgrade

After watching that Bama Georgia game last year I was ready to take him. The kid is pretty dynamic. But unfortunately this is Dak’s first year on this new contract……..

I would call that a waste of good draft capital. Dak isn't going anywhere for the next few years. The kid would be sitting on your bench not playing, not helping the team. Instead of using that high draft pick on a quality football player who is actually on the field, helping the team.

Hate it....Think Milroe is highly overrated. Give me Dart.

I would prefer another player.

Weaknesses

  • Threw five touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024 SEC play.
  • Hurried and lacking rhythm when working from the pocket.
  • Processing and decision-making are troubling at times.
  • Struggles to make anticipatory throws.
  • Success rate plummets when forced to come off primary option.
  • Fires hard-to-catch rockets at underneath targets.
  • Sails deep-outs and forces crossing routes to break stride to catch it.
  • Slow to feel mounting pressure and takes too many sacks.
  • Inconsistent trajectory on intermediate and deep-touch throws.

That is the main issue, if you take a QB to develop earlier in the draft his contract is going to be up by the time they are ready to move on from Dak and they will have to pay him.

There is a small chance Sanders could slide to Dallas, if Dak had 2 years left on his deal it might make sense to draft him, but not with 4 left.
